Lamp Light Books Hotel Sapporo

The area, service and vibe of the hotel was fantastic!

The book store in the lobby was a great unique atmosphere where people could relax and read.

Rooms were a bit small but very good facilities and cleanliness for the price

Really convenient (on the main shopping street). Room is a little small compared to western hotels but I'm told this is pretty standard in metro Japan. Laundry became a little bit of an issue as there was only 3 laundry machines and you had to be lucky to find one available.

The location definitely safe our experience. Room was very small so I would recommend if you have big luggages not to get the standard room. I found they over complicate things in order to just have housekeeping change linens etc. Everything is mostly self service, so guess you're getting what you're paying exactly.

I visited in February 2025. The hotel is situated above a book-themed cafe which is an interesting concept but the book theme doesn't really make it into the guest rooms so much aside from a book or two lining the shelves. I had a double room which was actually quite small but the room and facilities are generally clean. It was nice to have on-site laundry. The location is very convenient from a shopping and restaurant standpoint as it's at the end of a busy shopping arcade - the good news is that it's at the end of the street so it wasn't particularly crowded. A couple things to note: 1) if you'd like to sit in the cafe area (open 24 hours), you are required to order a coffee, even if you're a guest of the hotel and 2) the cafe is open to the public until midnight I believe. One thing that would've been nice that I found every other hotel I stayed at in Japan included were a couple of free bottles of water each day - nothing a short trip to the konbini can't solve, but a nice gesture. Overall, a pleasant enough stay at a fairly basic hotel.

Super small rooms but not suffocating. They’re actually very cute. Good for quiet time after a long day of sightseeing.

Really central location. Great designed rooms which were small but made a good use of the space. Staff were helpful and it was a great stay. Coffee was good downstairs also

Cute hotel in a convenient area. Went to the Snow Festival and it wasn’t too far away. We didn’t take advantage of the books or the cafe but the food looked tasty and a range of books to choose from in different languages. It’s a little icy out during this time so be careful out there ;)

Love it not far from any restaurant

The Lamplight hotel had great staff and a lovely cafe on the ground floor. Room was small but efficient - space for luggage and lots of bathroom counter space. Only suggestion is to add a few extra hooks for hanging towels in the bathroom. Easy self checkout via machine, except it said I only returned one card after having inserted two. Presumably not an issue, just annoying when technology doesn’t work as intended. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel, but it looked tasty (and busy!). Considering how lovely the Susukino area is and this famous shopping street, the hotel was very safe any quiet. Would recommend to travelers!

Loved it! Centrally located and easy to walk around and explore. Will stay there again.

Fabulous location and the ground floor cafe was great to hang out in. Rooms quite small but often that’s the case in cities in Japan. Beds very comfortable, very clean throughout.

Convenient location, 5 minutes walk to the airport shuttle bus.

Quiet, cute hotel located in bustling shopping street in Sapporo. Although the rooms feel small (as expected in Japan), the design makes the most of the space available. The bathroom is also very large and has a big bathtub —great for cold Sapporo nights. A bit of a walk from public transport, but you won’t need it as your in walking distance of many restaurants and nightlife. Best place to unwind after a long day exploring the city.

It’s pretty good and very cute modern hotel within the busy area.

Location is excellent. Under cover in shopping precinct. Close to all your needs and close to Poletown underground feed.

Lovely stay, lovely staff. English comprehension was outstanding. Very nicely located. Would recommend.

Wonderful, spacious hotel with very friendly staff and yummy breakfast. Will definitely book this hotel again next time.
