very new, efficiently run hotel. front desk people hugely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Room large and light-filled, mountain views. special shout-out to the women who work at the hotel's superb coffee shop, which has great coffee, superb pastries and great, inventive lunches.

I LOVED the Sheraton Kagoshima and wish we'd stayed here for more than one night. I booked an overnight stay in the city on the way back from Yakushima island. I wasn't expecting too much but absolutely fell in love with this hotel. Everything about it was excellent. The staff are spectacular throughout - charming, friendly, helpful and upbeat - also clearly proud of the hotel. The hotel itself is brand new, impeccably designed, super stylish and one of the most user-friendly properties I've stayed in for some time. It's all so new and well thought through. The gym and onsen facilities are excellent - although I wish I had more time to spend in them. The views - wow. We were in a corner room on the 12th floor and the view of Mount Sakurajima is mindblowing. I could have sat there for hours staring out of the window. It's like a piece of art. The rooms themselves are so fresh, large, clean, brand new and has everything you could think of needing. A really, really deep, great sleep. The free shuttle bus to the city centre is a huge bonus - departs every 30 minutes and gets you straight there, although the walk is easy too. I loved the Sheraton Kagoshima. Already want to go back!
