On arrival, we were directed to the check in terminal and told to scan QR code, despite us advising the two members of staff at reception that we hadn’t received this code. He still tried to get us to check in via the terminal before he finally agreed to check us in at the reception desk.
Having read some reviews about the hotel whilst travelling, we discovered that the bathroom door was glass, which was a concern to us due to privacy issues etc. We queried this with the receptionist and was advised it was not possible to see in the bathroom. This was not the case and the toilet was right next to the door and was in clear view of the bed, which faced directly onto the bathroom. This was very unpleasant and caused a disturbance during the night as the whole room was lit up when using the toilet.
The room itself was very dusty and there were hairs in the shower on arrival.
The experience was very disappointing and we expected better from a 4 star hotel, having used a budget hotel in Amsterdam previously.

My partner and I spent 2 nights in deluxe double room with balcony, the bed was amazingly big and comfortable, room wasnt big but was exactly what we needed. Having balcony was best choice! Bit noisy at night as right in centre but to be expected and being in middle of everything we didnt mind at all. At the nicer end of amsterdam. Would stay again!

Pros: great location, close to all the museums
Great choice of bars and restaurants nearby
Stayed in a Balcony room spacious with comfy beds, nice showers
Cons: quite noisy from the trams passing outside
Hotel is very outdated nothing like the pictures you see online,creaky floorboards throughout the whole hotel and in the rooms
Rooms could do with a better clean and more lighting
Storage is ample
Bathrooms are not heated
Overall the hotel was good/ok
has the potential to be amazing, definitely not worth the money they charge

Our room was lovely. When I come back, I hope to stay in room 118 again. Nice size. We were surprised to have a large balcony. Great staff. Safe location. You can see the fireworks from the balcony. The bartenders Sarah and Roger made me and my daughter feel like family and /or very special guests. Grocery market across the street. At a bus location.

Wonderful hotel which would be amazing with a couple of minor tweaks. It was a superb location which a large room with a very comfortable bed. We really enjoyed having a drink in the bar. The shower was fantastic but the quality of towel did not match everything else in the hotel. It was a 5 star hotel with a 1/2 star towel - tiny and thin. The other thing I would have liked more control over was the temperature in the room. I found it too cold and I don't get cold easily. The air con seemed set at 23 however it was not this temperature as our heating is less than this at home. Overall however, a fantastic hotel!
