Great lake views and desk space to work on laptop from - looking out at lake. Not much floor space in the twin room and the bathroom was basic and compact but everything was very tidy and adequate.

Close to the lake, Eat Street and could use the Novotel pools! We walked up to Eat Street multiple times. Walked to the Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa. Had a lake view from our room and staff were lovely, always said hi and asked how our stay was, that was great! It’s a little dated and the bathrooms could use a refresh but it was great for the 2 nights we stayed. It also has free parking and free laundry machines on site. That gave us a chance to wash everything before we headed on. Breakfast was not worth paying for unless you like powdered scrambled eggs, headed up to eat street the get a tasty breakfast after trying to eat the hotel breakfast.

We stayed 4 nights and the house keeping staff never serviced our room. Only when we arrived back from our activities late in the afternoon did someone then come knock on the door and ask to come in and service our room. We had to ask each day if we could have dry towels, and each time was like we had asked for the worst thing by the way the staff's attitude was shown. On one occasion when exiting the elevator we saw house keeping staff laying down on one of the beds in another room. There was a gentleman in the house keeping team who was regularly very inappropriate with his comments and gestures whilst guests were in ear shot in the hallway waiting for the elevator. Overall re the house keeping team, they need a lot of work to lift their standard. On a positive note: The breakfast was super and the staff at reception were always supportive and helpful and very accommodating of our needs so thanks for a great experience. It was lovely to be able to go across to the Novotel Hotel and use their pool whenever we pleased which was a savour when travelling kids.

Carpets in the room were worn out and old. The mattress had a human sized soft spot as if only one side was used, which indicates usage and age of mattress. Basin had aged old stains.

Good location by the waterfront and eat street. Limited off street parking but plenty of free parking on the street. Check in was slow. We arrived at around 2.15pm and already had a long line with only one person trying to handle everything. Room was clean and tidy. Main bedroom was modern and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit dated and falling apart. Easy to check out by dropping cards in the box. Was a comfortable stay for a reasonable price. Would stay here again next time.

It was definitely the Ibis and not the Novotel which is what we paid for. But an empty jug in the fridge to go to reception to be filled with water was a bit cheap when a bottle of water could have been provided plus no milk in the fridge for a cup top tea.

I only stayed for one night and found the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and that the location was very convenient as it is just around the corner from Eat Street. Despite being clean, the room itself did feel a bit tired with some areas of carpet fraying etc but I feel that I paid a fair price and would stay again.

Absolutely fine except the lighting - very dim especially as one of my lights wasn’t working properly & they weren’t able to fix it. So too dark to read in bed. Beware the 2% credit card charge, they don’t take cash, only NZ debit cards, so anyone from overseas had to pay it

This was a nice hotel. Our room had a view of the lake and we could see the seaplanes landing. It was a short walk to Eat Street for restaurants. It has reciprocity with Novotel next door that has hot pools, a jacuzzi and a pool. The room and breakfast were good.

This place is terrible. I don’t know how anyone could rate it above 1. The carpets are at least a decade past acceptable, with tears, burns, spills and general filth throughout. The cleaning staff leaves a lot to be desired, leaving cleaning product film in the sinks and showers and not replacing towels and washcloths. The front desk staff runs hot and cold, with the main female manager during our stay being a bit of a rude one. The breakfast is mediocre and there is obvious mold in the showers and in some of the air vents. I can stand the smell of sulfur from the natural surroundings but that mold in the vents is unacceptable. The parking situation is good as it the proximity to Eat Street, to put a positive spin on it. Seems like Novotel has spent their money on the fancy Novotel next door, leaving this sister property to degrade and fester. Never again at an Ibis

I liked the location but felt there should have been more food offerings on site for the price I paid. I guess though this made me explore more of the area. Needs new carpet.
