Wonderful property. It is dated but I love the old luxury feel so it doesn’t bother me any. Nice and quiet, great amenities, has 2 pools and a gym facility that has a hot tub and sauna. The rooms were gigantic! Which was a plus for my party of 3. Had a nice balcony to sit and listen to the bride early morning. The restaurant was ok. Seems to be the norm that New Zealanders are afraid of flavor and I have yet to have a great piece of chicken anywhere that doesn’t have the consistency of rubber. but the search continues.

The room and staff were lovely, a great location and room. Restaurant very nice with great food and service. Kids menu not as exciting as in past visits. Pool was actually a bit hot for the kids to swim in, more like a spa pool. No impressed with wifi at all, a room that sleeps 4 only allowed 3 logins, and each one needed own email address which the young kids didn't have.

Property is promising from the outside, but was really really dated inside. We didn’t get a chance to use the pools, but there were several. There was also a tennis court and an on site restaurant. Rooms and hallway could use an update.

Pool facilities were great. Clean and warm! Rest of the property, including rooms, were very dated and in some, parts quite shabby. Staff were wonderful.

This would be our 4th stay at Wairakai Resort. Nothing has changed since the early 2000s. Decor is dated as is the rooms. As there is no room service, I would expect a kitchenette in the rooms with plates and cutlery. Certain areas was in a state of disrepair. The bar by the pool was not operational and doesn’t look like it’s been maintained in years. The pool was great but needed to be cleaned more regularly as there was sand in the bottom. The spa pool area was no longer operational. Our rooms were not cleaned to a high standard. On day 2 our beds were definitely not made up satisfactorily. The duvet and sheets were simply thrown over the bed and was not even tucked in. It felt as if this resort is being used for emergency housing with some of the clientele seen. Won’t be returning unless a major upgrade takes place..

Nice little hotel. Pools, gym and sports areas were all great. Wifi is basically non-existant. As well, the hotel was quite noisy due to how loud the doors were when closing. Walls are pretty thin! Staff were very pleasant, overall decent stay.

Property getting pretty tired. Had a nail poking through our carpet, patched wallpaper, threadbare carpet, a wobbly fridge that wouldn’t close well. Nice grounds and facilities, however.
