Woodland Glen Lodge

This is the only place we could find for new year's eve in Hokitika and it looks like there's a reason for that. This is a B&B and you will live with the owner. We arrived at around 10pm and we were shouted at by the owners: "Do you know how late it is?" "We are entitled to kick you out!" I don't know the rules in NZ but I think 10pm should be pretty ok, especially it's new year's eve and a lot of people are still hanging around. We were supposed to find the keys ourselves, but we received ZERO prior communication from the hotel, either on how to find the keys or if we should try to arrive earlier. We enjoyed our time a lot in Hokitika but this is definitely the worst part. The hotel itself is ok, although a little bit old.

Anne & Fraser are very friendly and welcoming hosts. Location was excellent and their home is very comfortable. Fabulous breakfasts!

Lovely stay for two nights. Our room had all the facilities one could want for a B & B. The shared lounge (which we had to ourselves for the duration) included a eclectic collection of DVD’s some of which we enjoyed viewing. Breakfast each morning was great including a hot selection. Some attention could be given to improving the external appearance of the house albeit it is a challenge with the recent spell of wet weather.

Welcomed by host who was friendly and helpful. Very comfortable room & facilities. Dated, but well maintained and super clean. Lovely cotton linen. Spacious lounge area for guests was warm & comfortable. Full cooked breakfast was generous and tasty. The property was only slightly out of town, so a car useful to get there, had a nice semi rural feel and I loved the quiet. Overall excellent value.

Woodland Glen is a good hotel in great quiet setting. The room was comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities and the owners were friendly and welcoming. A number of restaurants were within a few minutes drive. Definitely worth seeing the Glow worm Dell at night after dinner. The breakfast provided was of a high standard and delicious. We would be happy to stay here again.

The room, especially the ensuite were spacious and well equipped. The breakfast menu was extensive and tasteful. Fraser was responsive to our requests and needs. We would happily stay there again.

Fraser and Ann were wonderful hosts and we felt very welcome.. The breakfast was excellent. Very clean, and we were quite comfortable. Bathroom amenities were nice. We would stay here again.

Lovely Bed & Breakfast accommodation that I would highly recommend to other travellers. Hosts are very pleasant and accommodating. Rooms are well appointed with everything you need and breakfast was simply delicious.

Splendid Place, super breakfast, lovely hosts.

The hosts were exceptional with great suggestions, and warm and delicious breakfast offerings. The lodge is very roomy and comfortable and I would highly recommend it for anyone needing excellent accommodations in Hokitika.

Excellent property and hosts. Only negative was mold around base of shower and shower door that we cleaned off with cotton bud. Otherwise room was clean and we would happily stay there again

A nice comfortable bedroom which gave us a good night’s sleep. Lovely selection for breakfast with fruit salad and cereals followed by a number options with free range eggs from their own chickens, homemade sour dough bread and very tasty bacon. The lounge for guests use was very well furnished and comfortable. The grounds needed some attention - I don’t think they’re gardeners! All in all a very pleasant stay for a reasonable price.
