Our stay at Casa do Rio was truly perfect, beginning with the exceptional service provided by Gonçalo and his team. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel special on our honeymoon. The location is breathtaking, and no photos can truly capture its beauty. The food at the restaurant was the best we’ve experienced in Portugal so far, and the wines offered a wonderful introduction to this remarkable wine region. We will definitely return at some point in our lives, as this place has carved out a special place in our hearts.

If you love wine and food, and crave an idyllic spot in the Douro to relax and indulge, Casa do Rio is for you. The location is remote, but that's part of the point. The property, the people, the service, and the food were outstanding and memorable. Daniel, Gonsalvo, Beatriz and the entire team were so knowledgeable about wine and the region, and gave us the best service we've ever received in a hotel. The dinners were sprawling and filled with the highest quality wines we tasted on our trip. And I'll very much miss the after dinner cheese buffet :) We cannot wait to return here one day, and will dream of it!

We had originally thought we would take day trips and utilize this location as home base. Once we drove down into the complex and met the staff, we decided we were not going to leave for three days. Incredible views, food, wine pairings, spa, pools, pure relaxation. We will be back.

Everything was absolutely perfect at Casa do Rio. The location is breathtaking, the architecture is amazing, the staff is wonderful, the food was absolutely delicious at breakfast and dinner. The rooms were spacious with all comforts needed and the hotel just invites you to relax. We stayed in a suite with the pool and it was absolutely perfect. The place feels calm and secluded as the suites are further away from the main building. I just can't wait to go back there! Let me not forget to mention again the whole team there who made us feel super welcomed and cared for.

Excellent setting in a quite area. The rooms are a bit noisy, but this is highly compensated by the friendliness of the staff and personal. A special word of thanks to the competence of senior WSET-wine graduate Mr Goncales who provided us with a fantastic wine tasting during dinner. The versatility of this person is remarkable.
