We had a lovely overnight stay, picked because it was close to walking to the Festival Theatre. Room was lovely and large, bathroom nice and everything clean. Staff in the the restaurant were very helpful and friendly. Breakfat was very good a wide variety to choose from.

Great room with huge and comfy bed, only a 10 min walk from the centre which is very handy.

The stay was excellent. Only a night to catch up with a friend and a bit of Christmas shopping before heading home. The staff, bar, breakfast area were all very good. The room was lovely and a good size and very comfortable bed. The ensuite was spotlessly clean and a very good shower.
We will come back!

When we went in January the hotel was fairly quiet and we experienced no noise. Staff were helpful.
Our first morning we had the £16 breakfast but were not really that hungry so very expensive for a few sausages.
The room aircon had no instructions and we were unable to stop it switching itself on and off throughout the first night. By playing about with it and asking the concierge we got it to be quiet the following nights.

When I checked out they had added a charge to a charity without my consent so do check your statement.
No room service menu in room and phone to restaurant didn’t work. When went to reception for menu, it was very, very limited. No salt/pepper/condiments brought with meal.
Room noisy as next to lift and air con kept switching back on during the night, despite switching off.
Gym was small and no space to use any equipment and loud blaring news on full blast.
Breakfast buffet limited. Scrambled eggs looked vile and synthetic.

Everything is very good. A huge improvement in all areas since being taken over by Marriott.
The morning coffee however really lets the hotel down. Very weak filter coffee severed from a large container is not what you would expect from a 4 star establishment.

We found the hotel to be okay, not great or something to be delighted about. The room was spacious, linen was good and bathroom was pretty good. But there was hardly any storage space in the room. There was just an open space with 10 hangers and just one drawer. We booked the hotel thinking there would be views towards Arthur’s seat but our window looked into the building next door. We are vegetarians and the breakfast hardly had anything for us except some sweet pastries and some cheese. But more concerningly the female servers in the dining room (except 1) were generally unsmiling and seemed to be going through the motions as some chore. The hotel location was fine - it was 15 mins walk from High Street/Royal Mile and 5-10 min Uber ride from train station which was convenient. But overall the neighbourhood of the hotel is overly quiet (and dead). The checkout time is 12 noon and we were 10 mins late and the front desk lady was a bit sarcastic and made a comment. We may not choose to stay at this hotel again in our next trip.

Our stay was great. Friendly staff, great services and nice rooms. Only bad point about our stay was that we had a king bed room and it was just 2 singles pushed together. During the night they end up splitting and you fall down the gap. Other than that the stay was amazing.

My stay was fine - the only issue was the waiter who was serving the evening diners didn't seem to have any concept of hospitality or service. I appreciate he was a young lad who was trying to earn some pocket money, but you ought not to put him out front, he'd be better off in the kitchen.

Our stay was lovely, great position in a beautiful city. It smelt amazing when walking in , the staff were all really friendly. Donald is a credit to the hotel , so friendly and helpful we had a lovely chat with him. The room was gorgeous , loved all the little extras. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas, would definitely return.
