Very comfortable room and good location! There was no housekeeping service in the room, so keeping it clean during your stay is on you, but there's a self-service laundry which helps.

The location is good. It is easy to get to many different places including the Kaohsiung Main Station by MRT -- one stop after Formosa Blvd of the Red Line. The Main Reason to go to Kaohsiung is to see the Great City of Buddha and the Museum. My husband and I spent two days there. We enjoyed it.

Check-in was slow. They encouraged us to upgrade because they said the bed might be too small. Older hotel, but most everything was ok. They did give extra pillows when asked. Bed was hard as a rock though. Poor water pressure. Great location to pier 2. Would stay again but wouldn't be first choice.

The hotel is closed to pier 2 and the MRT/LRT. Taking the LRT, you explored another part of the city. If you used the easy card, it costed NT$10 no matter how far you travel vs NT$20 if you pay cash. The front desk is friendly and helpful. The only complaint is the hotel decoration is a little bit out dated.

Good place to stay and take a look around the Gaoxiong (Kaohsiung 高雄)area. You are also very close to the Love River that you can just walked to. Took me about 10 minutes to get to the Love River. Took a bit longer to get to the stadium where the marathon started.

The room was old-fashioned, but clean. The breakfast food was not very suitable to a Westerner, but not bad. I was a bit alarmed that I was told there would be free parking, but when I arrived around 8 PM we discovered they had no more parking available, and we had to find a place to park on our own. I assume if we had to park in paid parking somewhere they would have reimbursed us.

Wenpin Hotel is an excellent value. Background: I stayed there for 7 nights in April 2018 and I speak Chinese. Pros: Great location. Walkable to the lovely Kaohsiung Harbor and Pier-2 area with great views, shopping, and a plethora of affordable restaurants. Also just a few minutes' walk to Yanchengpu Metro Station, from which it's quick and cheap to get just about anywhere in the city. Facilities-wise, the wi-fi is fast and reliable, and the hot water for the shower worked 6 out of 7 days I was there. The hotel is on a quiet side street and there's not much noise from the outside. I slept soundly. The staff are friendly and accomodating (it helps that I speak Chinese). They printed out boarding passes for me, gave me extra hangers, and provided useful information about the area. Cons: The walls are thin. I lucked out; on only one night were there noisy people staying next to me. The breakfast is so-so, and it's too early (6-8am) for my taste. Also there's occasionally a bad smell in the bathroom, although I think this is true of all budget hotels here. Overall, a great value in my favorite city in Taiwan.

Ask if you’re room is by the elevator. While it’s a very cool view with a huge window, it’s not worth the people noise in the morning. If you can’t find this hotel, it’s across from some meditation center.

The Hotel is quite old and quite noisy due to shutters and other outside noises. Quite comfortable. relatively basic. Staff speak little English. Very convenient for local bars and tourist attractions.

How to describe Wen Pin? It seems like it really wants to be comfortable, classy, old fashioned hotel, but doesn’t quite succeed in doing so. I booked it because it was the highest rated hotel within my budget. However I also booked a hotel in Taipei for a similar price which was much nicer. It has an excellent location, one block from the KMRT and a few blocks from the ferry to Qijin. The rooms and lobby are decked out with old style European furniture. I had some trouble checking in because I had changed my reservation, but they were ultimately able to sort it out. The rooms are mostly clean and quite large but the building is noticeably aged, and there is a faint musty smell in the air (but it is not very noticeable). The shower is ok but the head is quite low and it’s in a bathtub with a shower curtain rather than a door. There is free Wi-fi but it seems somewhat slow, I got faster speeds tethering my computer to my phone. Ultimately, your experience here comes down to your expectations. Those with high expectations should stay somewhere else, those with low expectations will have them exceeded. As for me, I think next time I’ll be willing to pay a little more to stay somewhere else.

I stayed in dormitory room. The room and equipment were very old. The TV than cannot be turned on, old wallpaper, old floor carpet and shower room. However, the bed was clean and with curtain that gave me some privacy. (^_^) The hotel was very near to Railway Museum, there are many shops and restaurants, convenience stores within 5 min. walk. Staff at the hotel don't speak much English but they were very friendly and helpful.
