Makathanee Resort

We enjoyed out time at this resort. The property felt a little run down and tired, but it was clean and safe. There often weren't enough chairs around the pool, but the staff did eventually bring more up from the beachfront area. We didn't not experience any sandfleas (at the resort or elsewhere on the island). It was easy and affordable to rent a scooter at the resort.

A very nice hotel in excellent and helpful staff. Worth the money - good price to quality ratio.

The facilities are nice? Its at a great location. Its quiet there and has its own beach, and dock. This is my 2nd time staying here.

Friendly staff, never felt as though I was being fleeced.

The location was great , right on the main strip with lots of shops and restaurants. All staff were fantastic and very helpful. Scooters on site to rent was convenient and we could explore whole island, which is amazing rooms were very clean and nice. All and all we really enjoyed our stay with them.

It’s a nice hotel, next to the pier and close to some bars and restaurants. Friendly staff. There’s a rooftop bar with a sunset view. Can’t go wrong staying here. Clean, spacious rooms.

Stay was ok room nice except no water pressure and lighting poor no tv channels except few Thai. Breakfast same each day no variety but sufficient. Restaurant mediocre. Will try different resort next time and shorter stay. Beaches lots of plastic rubbish washed up each day which is a shame.

We really enjoyed our relaxing beach holiday on the beautiful island of Ko Mak. Of the three hotels on our trip this was our favourite. (Other hotels were the 4* Awa Resort on Ko Chang and Choaloa Tosang Beach Resort on Choa load beach on the mainland). We stayed in a beach front bungalow (S6) which had stunning views across the bay, and open onto an immaculately maintain lawn leading directly onto the beach. Rooms are a bit dated but spacious and well laid out, generous size bathroom with perfectly adequate shower. Hint - the room safe is in the little cupboard underneath the bedside table. Best point is location, location, location. Stunning setting, restaurants and shops , even a coin operated laundrette just outside the entrance. The restaurants just outside the hotel served the best Thai food compared to Ko Chang and Choa Loa.. Do note - the island only has approx. 1000 residents. There are no banks., ATM's or currency exchange on the island. There are no cars - only mopeds and bikes and the pickup truck taxis which charge you 50 Baht per person to go anywhere on the island This hotel also had the best WiFi of the three hotels. Getting there - the Ko Chang and Ko Mak websites have up to date information. We were able to book the ferries on-line back here in the UK and "Live Chat" with our questions. Transfers all arranged online with Ko Chang Transfers who we would recommend.

Very clean large family room with beautiful sea view that you can choose to have cleaned if required. But it is not done if you don't leave your key with them. They explain this on check.in. Free shuttle service to and from the boat pier. Food pretty good overall and breakfast was great. They have a beach BBQ in the evenings which was quite nice. Beach generally lovely but lots of debris washed up on certain parts. Makes you realise how much waste we tourists generate and that we should be better at tidying up after ourselves. Free wifi was overall good but a bit patchy in the room on occasion. Staff generally friendly and nice. Would recommend if you plan to visit Koh Mak.

Lovely location and friendly staff. Great er vegetarian options would be good and making sure the TV works...

lovely place to stay right on the beach.Nice well kept gardens ! Breakfast was ok .eggs cooked to order. Had the evening BBQ was disapointing baked potato cold and hard . Room was very clean shower was great apart from shower head bracket needed fixing properly to the wall. All staff were nice and friendly nothing was problem. Could do with a decent mattress 5/10 for sleeping . on the whole would stay here again. would stay here again

Stayed two nights in the deluxe room no.303. Spacious, clean room with a balcony and beautiful ocean view. Friendly, polite, helpful staff. The hotel is right on the beach, just a couple of steps from the ocean. Semi-buffet breakfast (coffee, tea, juice, fruits, muesli as buffet, main dish by order) was good. Some comments say that there's no wifi in the room. In our room, there was wifi, and it worked fine. Two-way-transfer from/to Ao Nid pier (Trat catamaran by Boonsiri, approx. 3 km) was included to the room price. Would definitely stay again.

Nice bungalows on the beach. Bungalow resorts nearby with much better value. Bathroom is the same standard as bungalows on budget resorts

I couldn't stress more how welcoming and caring hotel staff was!! Living in Thailand for 8months now, and this was the best experience so far

Skumt med olika nivåer på badrum och runt sängen. Nära en smutsig strand. Poolområdet var helt ok.

Sehr schöne ältere Anlage mit gepflegter Außenanlagen direkt am Meer. Gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Gerne wieder Abholung vom Ao Nid Pier für 20 THB pro Person mit Elektro-Golfcart muss vorab angemeldet werden. Leider wieder einmal viel zu wenig Liegen am Meer
