Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop

In the reuse of a historic building, it can be difficult to lay everything out the way you want it. Getting to the elevators requires you to go past the end of the bar where patrons line up to place food orders, and it can be a bit dodgy to get by if there's more than two people are waiting. It could probably be fixed by moving the lineup to the other end of the bar, between it and the combination coffee shop counter/restaurant kitchen. The bed was rather uncomfortable, a thin mattress with no box spring. There was on maintenance issue in our room that I informed the front desk about, and they had someone up to fix it while we were out for a few hours. I chose the property because of its proximity to Union Station, and was pretty pleasantly surprised. Very close to the El train platform, many restaurants and bars in walking distance, and not as loud as I thought a room on the corner of Jackson and Franklin would be. The staff was all fantastic.

Great hotel apart from the beds being uncomfortable. The mattress is not firm and the pillows are too soft.

It was a great location! It was walkable and there were good restaurant option close by. It was clean and modern. The staff was friendly, my room was clean and spacious.

Very cute hotel with beautiful decor touches. Very busy but very clean and had nice amenities and delicious food. In a decent area with walkability. Affordable room with a good view. I found parking cheaper down the street from the property. Would stay again!!

Didn’t like that the breakfast wasn’t free as it stated on the website. I also didn’t like that the thermostat never blew out heat! It only went to 74 and blew cool air..room never heated up.

Beautiful decor, friendly staff!

Location was great to get around to various attractions. Bed was comfortable and water temperature and pressure was perfect. The only issue was that the bed linens had small blood stains on them. Hotel staff brought up fresh sheets, but did not change them for us. Turndown the following day had a pillow case with small blood stains again. I feel that I would stay at a different hotel next time, as they should be checking the state of linens before utilizing them in rooms. Maybe we just had bad luck, but it was disconcerting to say the least.

The location was convenient to both the El and Union Stations. Lots of dining options within walking distance.

My daughter and I spent the night in Chicago and stayed at the Canopy. LOVED it!!! Hotel is super conveniently located near restaurants, short drive to Shedd & Navy Pier etc. We walked by ourselves at night and felt totally safe. Hotel staff were all super friendly. The hotel was really cute - dark colored walls in the hallway and rooms made it seem very swanky but not at a swanky price! Bed was comfy, showers were large and rooms were bright w/ just the right amount of room. Not a bad size for downtown Chicago too. Parking was next door at the public lot, but literally steps from the main entrance, so not an issue. Will DEF stay again!

The room was clean. It had all the required things. The only imperfection was that it had only one cup for coffee.

We’ve stayed at multiple hotels around the city, but keep coming back to The Canopy because of its convenient location, easy parking, cleanliness, safe surrounding area, and swanky vibe of the rooms. The only thing we did not like is that the staff did “not” honor our late checkout request as longtime Hilton Gold Club members — which was the first time at any Hilton property for us.

Bed was very uncomfortable. No conditioner for 3 days. Cleaning lady spent 2 hours talking on the phone next room that we couldn't sleep in the morning. Heater was super hot.
