Holiday Inn Express New Orleans - St Charles by IHG

A relatively newly remodeled hotel that has had many rooms remodeled, however our room which previously had been remodeled was rather beat up and not up to minimum standards, the bathroom had too many issues from a low budget remodel and it showed, a few of the maintenance staff wreaked of Marijuana and other staff could not be found early in the morning, homeless people were ravaging the breakfast buffet and the hotel staff did very little except to stand at the front desk, I do travel a lot and see a lot of hotels but this was no excuse for poor Maintenance, lazy staff poor food, lack of hot coffee and staff that spent more time visiting with each other. Yes the staff was nice but there are way too many details to list here, one of the worst hotels I have ever visited and I would not ever stay here again

Patrice supplied most of the breakfasts during my stay and was remarkable for her ability to work hard, design a good breakfast and interact well with customers like me. The room itself had many maintenance issues such as missing a window shade, a little mold in the bathroom, filthy carpet. loose bathroom fixture, confusing TV and recontrol options, etc. Trash in the stairwell - although I mentioned it twice to different staff peope - was never removed.

The first room we got was 58 degrees, heating didn't work. The second room was smaller, the heat worked but not the TV. The receptionist couldn't say how long it would take to get the TV fixed. So, we switched room again. This room was even smaller, with only one chair (the desk chair) to sit on for 3 people. No counterspace in the bathroom and no towel bar, only a very small shelf in the bathroom, and a shower curtain that didn't reach the floor so you always got water on the floor when you showered. We stayed in that room for all 4 nights, but it was not an enjoyable stay. Also no bedside table or shelf on one side of the bed. In addition, the phone didn't work in the first room, and both first rooms had loose floor tiles by the door. Breakfast was OK but always out of something every morning. The last morning there was no milk (I asked), only chocolate milk. To summarize, a lot of neglected details, and a room that was too small for 3 people. Basically, the bed took up the entire room (room 804). Might have been OK for 1 person, but not 3. And the website lies about parking. It says you can self-park for $25 a night. Not true, you have to park in a public lot and download an app. There is no "self-parking" alternative to the valet parking operated by the hotel.

Very convenient

We had a 3-night stay over a weekend for a convention. The location was very convenient for the convention center as well as streetcar lines. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Great value for the money, highly recommend.

Pro was the front desk ladies were so welcoming and friendly. Hotel was OK, location was good when you could actually catch the trolley. Really bad delays. Con: Ice machine broken had to go to different floors for ice, not to biggy. Breakfast..just wow..do better. Saturday wa good, friday out of yogurt, hardly any milk and ran out. No muffins and almost all the hot food empty. We gad Volleyball tournament so we had to go buy food at Volleyball tournament ($$$). Lady seemed upset when asked about how long for eggs and ran off, so didn’t ask about anything else. Next day same situation. No milk for cereal, no set up for oatmeal. Need to do better for those who count on this. This was the reason we stayed here. Loud people out in hallway running around felt like no security.

Clean and modern basic hotel, nice gym facility, full breakfast to get you started on your day.

Overall the stay and price was good. The surrounding area was clean. All entertainment and activities were about 10minutes away.

Staff very friendly willing to help with anything you need

Clean room - quiet hotel and the staff was extremely friendly. It's the place to be if you're doing stuff in the art/warehouse district of want to jump on the street car (right outside) to anywhere.

Decent stay. First room they checked me into didn’t have window shades and was on the front(traffic) side of the building. Very good about getting me in a room with shades and a quieter location. Water pressure was not great. The first night the water temp was warmish and the second night it was just barely tolerable. Also, when you turned the hot water on full in the sink, it sounded like someone was jack hammering on the pipes. When I brought this up at check out, the front desk just apologized and said that they have been working on the plumbing. I’m glad they were sorry but they didn’t offer any compensation. I am sick of hotels doing this and I will start demanding some kind of compensation. When you book a room you exchange your money for a room with certain services like a hot shower or Wi-Fi. When these are not provided for whatever reason, there should be some kind of compensation other than “I’m sorry”. You hold up your end and pay the price they ask, but they don’t always hold up their end and provide the services and amenities that you are paying for. Other things…the breakfast was very good with various choices, and the front desk staff and valet staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional.

The clerk was very nice and accomodating. The room was the worst ive been in. Things were broken and smelled bad. The tv was out also.
