Holiday Inn Express WALNUT CREEK, an IHG Hotel

Creepy. Interesting characters at the hotel. Old, old carpets, old door. Dirty, stain bathtub, just two small towels were provided, I had to ask for more. Hairdryer was in bad condition, fire hazard, had to ask for a new one. Plugs did not worked well, very old and not strong current to charge a laptop properly. No bathroom extractor. Worst hotel. Cheesy tacky decorations on the lobby. I mean, I wasn’t expecting a Four seasons service . But something decent, clean. Please don’t stay here. I arrived late and did not had the energy to go somewhere else, thankfully was only one night. Stay elsewhere

It works for a quick night rest. 6 more hours to our destination.

Overall, my stay was good. The front desk staff was excellent and very welcoming. Although parking wasn’t free, the rates were reasonable. The hotel is located near a freeway, and even though my room was on the side, the noise was noticeable throughout the night (light sleepers should bring earplugs). The AC/heating unit in the room was also quite loud and could disturb your sleep. Aside from these issues, the area felt safe, and there were plenty of dining options nearby.

Service was pretty unfortunate here. We were mislead with the availability of roll away bed. We called ahead and they said we can get one, then come time for the stay, they said we couldn't. Front desk was pretty cold and dismissive. Also, there are signs of mold and rust in the room. It's worth noting that the Filipina breakfast service lady is awesome. She is really warm, welcoming and really on top of that breakfast service. She is the star of the facility

Stayed two nights one week apart and both nights were great.

We asked to be placed in a quiet room--away from the elevators and ice machines. That we got. We were however in a room that was exposed to freeway noise, a lot of back-up beeping from neighboring vehicles, and plumbing noise. Also, there was ample parking, but it cost us $15 for our one-night stay. The breakfast was ample and good.

There was no Wi-Fi for our entire 4 day trip.

impossibly loud and busy, the windows don't fully seal, the hotel caters to itinerant construction workers whose shifts begin in the middle of the night, there is a 2 inch gap at the base of the room's door allowing light and noise in, the walls are thin and the heat is not adequately controllable by individuals.

Black out window shade was broken. Street light shined in room.

Very solid service throughout our stay. Nice clean room (however the fridge in the room was very noisy throughout the night). Convenient location. However, our initial check-in experience was terrible. Thom checked us in at 7:20 PM on Nov 29th. It took over 20 minutes to receive our room keys. He kept repeatedly questioning if my girlfriend and I were married and specifically mentioned there would be legality issues to stay here if we weren’t. We felt extremely uncomfortable. He also ignored us in the middle of checking us in to help another guest. The main reason I am not giving this hotel 5 stars is because of this awful unprofessional check-in experience.

Did not like surprise parking fee and damage deposits.

The hotel was very nice, but it was in an area with no restaurants or shopping within walking distance.

The Holiday Inn Express in Walnut Creek is a nice hotel, and our third stay. We can walk to several restaurants, Walgreens & Starbucks. The rooms are clean, comfortable with an elongated chair, clothes closet, as well as other amenities. The breakfast is very good. I liked the egg, cheese & chiles petite omelette. Enjoyed our stay.
