Hotel Abri - Union Square

Pros: Great location. Just down the street from Union Square. 10 min on foot from Moscone Center. No issues with staff. You are provided water, wine, and a snack on check in. Cons: The room was tiny. The mattress was very soft and gave me back pain in the morning. Noise insulation was poor and I was woken almost every night from street noise (loud vehicles, people screaming), even though I was on the top floor.

Just perfect! This is an amazing old hotel that was built in the early 1900s and been modernized though keeping the old feeling. Everyone was extremely friendly. Room was comfortable, quiet, roomy, and fairly sound proof. I was on the 5th floor so I didn’t hear much. 5 min walk from BART. 5 min walk to the Warfield, if you are going for a concert. Coming back again.

Hotel is really nice. Every issue we had was addressed. Steve at the front desk was really helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

Service was great and location is excellent; my needs were served and they were part of an enjoyable trip.

Parking was the most trouble in this stay

New hotel

Union square is now drowning in homelessness and drug addiction so very sad to walk around and quite unsafe at night. Hotel is very old. Staff nice and they give a welcome gift. Rooms are a bit dirty (mold in bathroom and we saw hazmat suit guy smoking a room on 5th floor).

let’s go with the positives: 1. The front desk was really nice and helpful throughout my stay. 2. Transportation is so accessible as there is the Powell station and many buses that runs on market street. 3. Everything is nearby from the hotel like attractions, SF shopping centre, target, and even restaurants For the positives this a good place when transportation and other services are nearby walking distance. Let’s get into the negatives: 1. I realized at union square there is a lot of homeless persons walking around the area. So therefore if you go into one bad street, it could potentially be dangerous. 2. On the website, it said that they have laundry services. I was under the impression. That it will be either in the room or in another room. So I went to front desk, they advised me that it’s the housekeeper that does it and you would have to given it a certain time. So I felt it was little misleading on the website. 3. My room key had issues daily and they had to fix it everytime. It became very fatiguing to go to the front desk everytime after I was out for the whole day and I just want to be in my room. The front desk told me that it happens if I put my phone or any magnetics close to the house card. 6. The room that I had was smaller than I expected. The room was so small that that I bump myself onto the desk every time because how close it is. Even the shower was quite small as well the lights were not bright enough and curtains were a hassle to deal with everytime.

Staff is very friendly. Location is great near Powell street cable car and Union square. Many good food options around the property and walgreens is within a short walking distance.

Always love staying here

It claimed that parking was included and that was the main reason I chose it. That turned out not to be the case. With a smirk, the front desk clerk informed me that parking was available across the street in private parking for 44 dollars a day. I didn't appreciate that. The room was nice but I would stay somewhere else next time.

Overall stay was good. Customer service was good and the room was clean. A few issues I had were related to the following: 1. The room was really cold; when I attempted to heat up the room, the heater smelled really bad so I had to turn it off right away. 2. There are a lot of homeless people on the Main Street beating drums, playing loud music, and just overall couldn’t sleep from the noise. 3. The mini fridge was not working. I didn’t need to use it so not a big deal but I’m sure had I asked them to fix it they would have right away. Aside from these aspects listed above, the stay was pleasant and room was a good size.

Location and staff

Great location. Right next to the cable car and a Walgreens. Lots of coffee and food options everywhere. Super clean easy. Check in and out.
