Hotel Gibbs Downtown Riverwalk

Location was nice for access to Alamo and Riverwalk. The temperature control was not always effective in managing the temperature in the room. Hot water was never really hot. Valet services not very timely in their response. Free breakfast was one of the high points of the stay.

Im extremely let down by this hotel for almost $400 for two nights I would expect the hotel to at least be clean. First thing we noticed was the elevator was extremely dirty. Our room was super small and I found an old water bottle (not mine) under the bed. Also, behind the cabinets I found a shirt and a belt that again was not mine. Only reason I looked back there is because i dropped my earring back there. So that means whoever cleaned the room didn’t look back there to find those belongings. Not to mention the coffee maker was all dusty. It clearly looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a while. I know hotel rooms are supposed to be cleaned and dusted every single time a guest checks out and this hotel was just not it. Overall I was just very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. For that price I feel it should atleast be cleaner.

Super friendly and convenient.

Great location across from the Alamo. Loved the high ceilings in the room. Breakfast was great but under staffed.

I would not stay here again. Bathroom was moldy and filled with mosquitoes.

It was perfect for what we needed. Only down side was all the construction around the hotel. The reason we picked it was to see the alamo and that was not the case

Its location

Hotel Gibbs is a Charming old boutique hotel with lots of cool history. The rooms were clean and the staff is very nice. Sara at the front desk is so sweet. The queen room we stayed it was small but still for our need for the weekend. The hotel is so convenient to the Riverwalk. And the wine room located in the lobby was a nice thing to have access to at the end of the night. They had two acoustic guitar singers Fri and Sat night that were great. Will for sure stay here again

Everything was wonderful about the hotel

Awesome location. Only recommendations for the hotel is a coat of paint in room 606 the windows especially need stripped and sanded. These windows are probably older than any person in San Antonia. And they need some attention. Peeling paint is not appealing especially if you had young kids with you.

Great service

Rooms were small, but very efficient use of space. Had everything except an in room safe. Price point was great. Free breakfast was good, but they kept running out of coffee and it took a while to replenish.

Love the old elevators and water fountains, beautiful room and view we had. Front desk always helpful and even got snacks $3 each which was easy n convenient

Looks haunted

There was 3 couples staying there and we had a great time and the front desk folks were great with knowledgeable information

I felt like I had THE best views of The Alamo and historic buildings. Highly recommend. Beautiful scenery.

We booked this hotel mostly for the location and breakfast, which were wonderful. The building is old but it’s also dirty. I used my own wipes to clean the walls in the bathroom around the sink and it was disgusting how much filth came off. There was also a pair of underwear hanging on the knob in the bathroom. We checked under the beds before we left to make sure we hadn’t lost anything and the amount of dust under there made me glad I didn’t look earlier. Gross. The showers aren’t in the bathroom, they’re in their own teeny tiny room that you can’t open the shower door until you shut the outside door, and when you’re trying to bathe a toddler it’s so annoying and inconvenient. No tub either. There’s also no drawer space to unpack so four of us were living out of suitcases that took up so much space in the room. I’ve never seen any setup like this before. On the last day the valet guy couldn’t find our keys. Turns out the guy from the night before scratched our number out and put them somewhere else. Very suspicious. We enjoyed our time because of the city and the things we had planned but we were disappointed in the hotel accommodations for sure.
