Outbound is conveniently located in town, but the inside of what was the old Sierra Nevada hotel is definitely dated (carpet, paint, etc). The rear parking lot is in desperate need of refinishing. The rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The lobby is also very cozy to hang out in. I would stay there again depending on the price.

Rooms were tiny, pictures online showed much more updated rooms where in reality, our room was old. There was no room to hang ski gear, and space was overall too tight. The restaurant on the property could have had better variety, the menu was poor and lacking, and the lobby was nice with fire/ambiance, live music, and board games for the kids and adults to play. The hot tub and pool were the main attraction for this property. The "Game Room" was a side room inside the hotel's restaurant, and most games were not working/broken. The game room should be updated and all games should work...

Had a pretty mediocre time at Outbound Mammoth. The hotel is newly renovated and parts of it are still under construction. The rooms are decent and the decor and vibe of the hotel are cute, but there's some stuff that needs serious attention. To use the sauna, we had to walk through an actual construction area with bins and stray raw materials and saw dust…not the most relaxing experience haha. The walls are thin and the people next door to our room were partying with really loud, bass-y music. We had to call down to the front lobby a couple times to ask them if they could give our neighbors a heads up. They were still being really loud at 2:15am which was rough because we had an early day on the mountain ahead of us. Since a lot of people are there to ski/snowboard, it would be helpful if they had some kind of quiet hours policy so you could count on getting some good rest. We ate at the Sierra bar and the staff were really nice and the space was really lovely. However the food was flavorless and overcooked. I would go again for drinks but not food. All in all, not staying here again. Seems like the new decor is a bandaid for an otherwise low quality experience. Plenty of other places in town!

Stayed in older part of hotel and was fine for a reasonably priced getaway. Nice, rustic communal area. Location is very central. Nice staff. Ownership needs to sort out parking a little better. Newer chalets look nice.

Will start with the high points I know mammoth well, coming uo over new years was going to be busy. We wanted a good location to walk and take the mountain shuttle. Outbound delivered. All the lines right at the outbound entrance. Walk to market and plenty of restaurants. We never really used our car. The property is big , upgraded and well decorated. We loved the large hot tub. And it was working- so often the hot tubs are marketed at hotels, but pictures are better than the reality. Outbound hot tub was great. The fire pits were always on and a nice touch. The front office staff was very good-they knew their stuff and their property. Importantly, the outbound price to value ratio was on the mark- very good value. For improvement: we knew on a holiday week it would be busy and I know finding staff in mountain towns is tough- I had to mention to front office about trash that needed removed and common bathrooms that were dirty. This is a modest critique on a very busy time of year and explainable. Definitely will return to Outbound.

The property overall is wonderful and working hard to make it as top notch of an experience as possible. The staff here are the best part. The most notable tip here is that it feels like a split property. You have the new, modern, excellent bungalow style rooms/suites and then the other building, which is like a traditional hotel. The hotel side rooms are cozy, do seem converted from an older propertly but are clean and spacious. The only issue that is very important is that some stacks in the hotel have hot water issues. This is ultimately a major dealbreaker if you end up in one of these rooms. It is also a known issue which begs to differ...mark those rooms and dont reserve those out until it is fixed. Everyone wants a hot shower. We were in one of these rooms and were upgraded to a bungalow which saved the trip. We will definately stay here again as the grounds, staff, lobby lounges, on site restaurant and crepe food truck were all excellent. The pool and jacuzzi were the best.
