The Inn on Ferry Street

Very characterful property, convenient for the Amtrak station.

We went for a staycation for my daughter’s birthday. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond. It is a vintage space so no place for chargers per se and in winter it’s a bit cold - but they have plenty of outlets and additional heaters and the staff goes above and beyond throughout the entire stay. We loved it!

Staff was excellent, rooms and access to property really good. Good location off Woodward near DIA and Historical. Heat in our room didn't work right.

The Inn on Ferry St. was absolutely amazing! From the newly remodeled bathroom, the gorgeous view from the many windows out to the quiet and lovely neighborhood, to the super friendly and helpful staff we could not have asked for a more wonderful place to spend the past four nights. Located just off major roads near the Detroit Institute of the Arts it was convenient for the many locations we visited during our stay in Detroit. We will definitely be staying at The Inn on Ferry Street for any future visits to the area!

I had a short stay to attend my friend’s funeral. The hotel location is ideal for my interest as it’s located within walking distance one to blocks from Detroit’s Art Museum, Historical Museum and Science Museum. If my stay included one more day I would have visited all 3 however only had time for the Art Museum due to my schedule. I ate at one of the best restaurants in Detroit located less than a block away, Chartreuse Kitchen and Cocktail which was excellent and very affordable considering its level of cuisine. Also since The Inn on Ferry Street is located at the campus of Wayne State University the environment appears very safe for walking near the hotel at night. My only complaint involves my bedroom and sitting room carpet which didn’t appear clean and had several stains. My stay would have been nicer if the carpet had been cleaner or my I suggest replaced with hardwood or some non-carpet flooring which I have found easier and less expensive to maintain in rental property. That would also address those of us with carpet dust allergies. That aside I enjoyed my stay at The Inn on Ferry Street.

Stagg was excellent. Bed was very comfortable. Pillows were not - some were exceptionally hard. And carpets were badly stained. Not sure if they are trying to perserve the carpet for some reason for originality? Overall, very good experience. Would recommend.

Absolutely adorable place to stay as a couple. Hubby and I drove into the city to see TSO in concert and didn’t want to drive home. This hotel is super adorable and love the original home pieces left. We will be back and hope to stay in another house/room so we can explore more.

Great location! Beautifully kept property with lots of charm and character.

Beautiful location, incredibly well appointed for the price! The continental breakfast is excellent. The common areas inviting you to stay longer. Only 2 suggestions: 1. Better walkways between buildings to avoid walking through lawn when it is raining (or torrential downpours when we were there); and 2. A small room safe for jewellery and passports etc would be a nice touch. That's how hard we had to dig to come up with any suggestions! A truly lovely spot!

Beautiful rooms!

I think the best thing beside being in a gorgeous older building was the staff. Starting with the third shift guy, kitchen worker and Cameron who greeted us with a smile. He constantly asked we needed anything. Also, I had a great conversation with a couple from Madison, Wisconsin.

The heat was off the electric went out we were given two heaters to help but it was still very uncomfortable So the manager on property Miss Ariel Tatum , asured me that my total expenses paid would be refunded directly to my card also my 50 dollars for security thank you so kindly sir.

Historic

If & when I return I will ask NOT to have my room close to the rear parking; individuals would sit in their car with noisy engine/muffler running! Consider putting a phone in the lobby connected to the check-in counter; I needed to speak to the Front Desk about: no coffee machine and my room heat not working properly; I had to use the heater but the bathroom was still freezing. The building is beautiful.

We had a fantastic stay at the Owen house. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Love the Christmas decor at the main Ferry House and breakfast was delicious. Thank you

Really great staff, just the nicest. Great rooms in a group of beautiful old houses.

The Inn was close to and convenient to the DIA and the Detroit Historical Society museum. A great restaurant, Chartreuse, was within walking distance, and it was a short drive to Mario's. We enjoyed our stay.
