When I decided to go to NOLA for a solo trip I knew I wanted to stay in a “boutique” property verses something large and commercial. The Pontchartrain came up in my search. The thing that attracted me right away were the aesthetics. I loved the colors and decorating style from the 1920s. I was not disappointed when I arrived! I loved my room. I loved the two restaurants I dined in regularly: 1. The Bayou and 2. The breakfast one across the hall (can’t remember the name). But try the grits, coddled egg and hollandaise breakfast with buttered toast. One of the most memorable breakfasts of my entire lifetime!! This hotel is also in a lovely location: the garden district, and a streetcar goes by right out front. I will definitely be going back to NOLA and this is where I will stay.

Beautiful, quirky, artful. Hot Tin rooftop bar had amazing views of the city. Jack Rose has excellent food and super cute decor. Loved coming back to the hotel at night to spectacular jazz in the bar. Would definitely stay here again

The rooms were not clean, there was no ventilation in the room, they were old and musty, they charge you a ridiculous Resort fee that gives you little to nothing in exchange, the bathroom amenities were lacking, it was hard to adjust the temperature in the room. There's a cute Bar and Restaurant in the building that's probably their best asset.

Overall, an OK stay! Nice hotel for the price. Front desk wasn't always all that friendly, but not unpleasant. Valet was always friendly and ready to suggest a restaurant! Hotel Restaurant/Bar kept music going until late in the night and people outside laughing/chatting until about 1am, all of which was pretty loud from our 2nd story, front facing room. Just thankful it didn't go on all night long! Try to get a room on one of the middle floors, if you can. Not too close to the rooftop bar or the bottom floor restaurant.

The location was great. The service was also good. The restaurants and live music was great. For the price it was a fine hotel. However, the room had a strong musky smell from how old the hotel was. An update is absolutely needed.

Not a well kept property, things like windows painted shut scream amateur hour. I had to request to have my room cleaned at 5:00 pm two day out of five. With the added "resort fee," not a good value at all!

We’ve stayed at this hotel many times since they opened/ remodeled. This will probably be our last stay. Previously this was the nicest 3 star hotel, a great value with lots of lovely touches. This stay was more per night with less amenities. Google now rates this hotel as a 4 star, yet they’ve gotten rid of room service, they no longer give a lagniappe and the rooms have not been taken care of. Additionally they charge a resort fee for things that either no one asked for or should just be included in the room rate. I’d rather spend twice as much and have a luxury hotel stay than spend 250$ a night for a mediocre one. Our room was small and cramped, there were cleaning supplies outside of our door, the toilet cover was wood? And the toiletries which are normally a perk of staying there were terrible. Really cannot get over how this hotel used to be the best but there are now lots of boutique hotels in New Orleans and we will try one of them rather than paying more for less amenities.

As someone who travels a lot and stays at only 4 and 5 stars, this hotel is absolutely not a 4 star. The bathrooms are very run down and the bedroom is carpeted. Day housekeeping service is quite bad. The other staff is very friendly. Day 1 - No lotion or shower gel/soap provided, shower curtain 12 inches too short, bathroom gets soaked with showers, toilet within inches of shower, housekeeping doesn’t take trash out, no new tub floor towel given only part replacement of towels. Day 2- No new hand towels given only bath towels, housekeeping again left same trash on floor, minibar water not refilled and we were willing and wanted to pay for minibar water and still couldn’t. Convenience stores nearby closed when we returned home and we really wanted water. Went to front desk who said they didn’t have access to it and they would ask housekeeping if they could find from another room. They then came right away. Night housekeeping always came quickly to bring the items that day housekeeping would forget. Day 3- housekeeping knocks loudly everyday at 9 asking to clean. that is far too early and not standard practice. Day 4- on day of checkout (a Sunday morning in New Orleans), housekeeping knocked loudly on door at 9 am asking us when we were checking out so they could clean. I said not till checkout time at noon. They came another four times knocking in the next three hours and woke us several times.

Our stay was great, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The beds are very comfortable, I slept like a baby. There is a bar downstairs and the food is really good there, especially the wings. I definitely recommend stay here.
