Sagada, a fifth-class municipality in the Mountain Province, as of 2015 had only 11,000 inhabitants. The life of this small community is pretty calm and simple but it features an all-year-round cool climate that is far colder than Baguio, which draws domestic travelers. Aside from that, it has a lot to offer travelers, history fans, and adventurers alike.
Visit the interesting Hanging Coffins, which is basically a unique burial ground. Learn of the rituals that are practiced, which date over a century ago! From there, make a stop to see some traditional weaving by a group of talented weavers. Continue on to explore the Sumaguing Cave, also known as 'The Big Cave' for its chamber size. Delight in the amazing rock formations that were shaped by nature over thousands of years.
Take in peaceful views of the Ifugao Rice Terraces. Visit the Ifugao House Museum while you are there, and you will be able to see the traditional 'fale', which is a multi-functional one-room shelter an Ifugao family lives in. Hike on to take in more picturesque views of the Batad Rice Terraces, Tappiya Waterfalls, and Old Batad Village!
