We are now in the old town of Phuket. It is worth a trip to walk around the town (or drive if you prefer) and sightseeing the architecture of the buildings. The style of this town is inspired by the mix of Chinese and Portuguese designs. It might look familiar to the eyes of foreigners but not something you will usually see here in Thailand.
Many Chinese families moved to the Phuket city a long time ago. That is why Phuket cultures and lifestyles are heavily influenced by them. The city has become unique and outstanding – attracting tourists and foreigners all around the world, yearning to visit one day.
After walking and driving within the city, head back to the hotel and check-in. It’s already evening and the sun is almost at the lowest. Let’s go to one of the most famous places in Phuket, a place where tourists and locals love to watch the sun set in the ocean -- Promthep Cape. It will be a crowded place yet worth going as the view of the sun set, reflecting on the ocean and the sky is too stunning to resist.
Plan your time carefully as the time of the sun set varies depending on each season. It is also recommended to go to the cape before to find a space as it will be very crowded, particularly in high season. This amazing scenery is a perfect place to say goodbye and a beautiful ending to our first day of Phuket Trip.
Start your day earlier than usual as we have to drive to Phang Nga, a province next to Phuket with a lot of interesting attractions. It takes around 1-2 hours by driving and you get to cross the bridge that connects Phuket Island and the mainland. Set your destination to be Tham Lod Cave.
The cave or the mountain is located above the ocean water in the middle of the sea. This place is only accessible when the tide is low and you will notice the beautiful, nature made stalactites and stalagmites.
After we get to experience the beauty of nature, another spot that is also amazing to see is the famous Koh Tapu(also known as James Bond Island) and Khao Phing Kan. Because the place once appeared in the James Bond movie and with its remarkable shape – plenty of people will recognize this mountain instantly. Tapu in Thai means nail, the name comes from the shape. However the authorities and officers forbid any tourist to be near the Mountain as it is dangerous.
Take some photos from afar with this landmark and ready to have some lunch on Koh Panyi, another tourist attraction that welcome travellers to experience ways of local life which is the village that lives permanently on an island. Most of the locals here are fishermen, and you can find a full community with restaurants, markets and even the football field!
Apart from the fascinating way of life, the seafood is one of the highlights as the materials are fresh – directly from the ocean! So this is the place where we will have lunch and eat fresh seafood.
We had a stunning sunset view already at Promthep Cape, but we can do more! Get up a bit early again today (before sunrise, of course) to a viewpoint with the most beautiful sun rise -- Samet Nangshe. Drive for about 30 mins from Phuket to find a stunning view with islands and the ocean of Phang Nga Bay. There is also a rainforest, the green color, spread widely before your eyes, decorated with mountains and islands and a touch of a sun rise. Truly breathtaking and worth the trip!
Head back to the hotel and check-out, visit the last place of a three days trip which is Mai Khao Beach, a famous long beach located very near the airport. So you can relax with ease without worries about rushing to the airport in time.
If you are lucky enough, you might get to spot the airplane, ready to land on the runway of the airport too! End your trip and enjoy walking along the clean, white sand beach.
That’s it for the Road trip of Phuket and Phang Nga. All the attractions are welcome for the tourists to visit all year round! The southern part of Thailand with the beach, the food and the cultures is the best choice for a trip to relax from your busy and stressful city life.
