1. Lotus Chapel, Santi Wanaram Temple

This chapel shaped like white lotus is located in the temple called ‘Santi Wanaram’ in Nong Han town, not far from the Baan Chiang community. It is the only chapel in the middle of the water that is designed as a 19 meters white lotus. Within the chapel, there are beautiful paintings on the walls. The scenery is impressive and you should not miss it.

2. Red Lotus Lake

One of the most beautiful and amazing places in Thailand that had been ranked as 1 of the 5 amazing lakes of the world from CNN. Between December – February is the best time to visit to see the thousands of blooming red lotuses within the lake. We also recommend visiting in the early morning or else it will be too hot to hop on a boat.

3. Ban Huai Samran

It has been called ‘a village of flowers’ of Udon Thani. With more than 25 acres, it consists of flower fields growing and blooming. Meet calendula, chrysanthemum and a lot more here. Also, the location is not far from the city, about 20 km. It’s actually worth the visit to see beautiful fields of flowers, you can choose to take a tour and explore the field on a car.

4. Pothisomphon Temple

The Pothisomphon temple is located in the Mueng town which is an ancient temple, built in King Rama IV period with more than 15 acres and has been regarded as the important place of the province. Within the temple there are Buddha statues 600 and 1,300 years old, a sacred fig tree from Sri Lanka, and a Buddha's footprint from 200 years ago. Lots of historical and religious items are here.

5. Pa Phu Kon Temple

The amazing temple, situated in the middle of the forests that you have to visit if you are in Udon Thani. You will see a massive reclining buddha statue that is not like everywhere else, because it is made from 42 Italian marble stones and more than 6 years of crafting. Prepare to be amazed when the blue light shone down on the statue and create the mesmerizing sight – this temple alone is actually worth the cheap flight!

6. Kham Chanod

A place which is famous for religious people with the stories of a sacred Naga. But besides the story, this place is still interesting with the one and only forests of Chanod Trees in Thailand. What made it more amazing is that the forest is located on a land that is surrounded by water but the dirt down below acts as a sponge and makes the land floating on water.

7. National Museum of Ban Chiang

One of the most important historical sites of the world, with archaeological and ancient items 5,000 years old. It is not the same old museum that shows broken vests and old pots but it also shows the process of finding and digging. We get to be an archaeologist and find clues and stories within the pieces that we have found too. Lots of activities to do here and you might enjoy the visit.

8. Huai Luang Dam

The biggest earth dam in Udon Thani and not very far from the town. You can drive around to see the view or choose to board the raft or boat too. Relax and be with nature, visit the place around the sun set for the best view. Don’t forget to stop at some restaurant with fresh fish dishes, catching from this dam.

9. Nongprajak Public Park

Everyone who arrives here in Udon Thani will also visit this landmark. The Nongprajak Public Park is both well-known to tourists and locals. A massive lake with big yellow rubber ducks as their signatures. In the evening, the locals will come here and do some exercises like biking, aerobics, kids playing in the playground and you could hop on cute little paddle boats shaped like a duck too.

10. Chao Pu Chao Ya Shrine

This shrine is located back at the train station near Nong Bua market. An ancient and sacred shrine to locals. With about 3.5 acres of space, there is a pavilion in the middle of a lake. In December of every year, it will hold a festival with Chinese opera shows while the place will be decorated with colorful lanterns too.

11. Thai-Chinese Cultural Centre

Because Udon Thani is the city with lots of Thai-​Chinese descent, the city has this cultural centre about Thai-Chinese history. The place is near the Chao Pu Chao Ya shrine. This place was built with the Chinese-style architecture, inside, there are lots of shops and activities to explore like tea café, souvenir shop and 3d cinema that shows a film about Chinese in Udon Thani. 12. Phu Phra Bat Historical Park

With about 1,356 acres, it is a massive park with lots of rocks, stones, waterhead and historical sites for you to explore. The highlight here is the buddha footprints, crafting in rocks. Make sure to view the prehistoric rock paintings and inspect some unusual rocks formation around the park. This place also has a mythological story for locals as well.

13. Udon Thani Museum

A colonial, bright yellow building that had been renovated in 2014 and made into a museum. It gathers the history of this city with art, archaeology, history, culture and tradition. Get to know the background of Udon Thani.

14. Phu Foi Lom National Park

An eco-tourist attraction which is perfect for nature-lovers. Here you will find plants and flowers on a hill while gazing at the stars during the night.
