Hotel was under renovation, but work was on ground and first, but they kindly put us on the 5th floor away from any noise. Staff were very helpful.

The room was amazing and comfortable.
There was refurbishment going on while we were there but the was not any disturbance of noise.
The only downfall was the breakfast, the hot food often run out with long waiting time for this to be replenished.

Very good hotel, terrific facilities and staff, lovely room, on site gym, pool and sauna, walking distance to city centre and to/from train station. All in all no issues whatsoever.

Good leisure facilities available.
Unfortunately, during our stay there were no restaurant or bar service available due to ongoing refurbishments.
We would stay again.

We stay in a refurbished room which was great.
Down side a family room with four in had 2 towels and 1 toilet roll.
Wasn’t told when booking car parking is £8, thankfully reception waved this charge.
Restaurant is being refurnished too so no evening meal options. But that was fine.
Breakfast in the morning was poor, no fresh fruit and all the cooked items were cold.
For a 4 star hotel I thought the breakfast options very limited.

Lovely refurbished bedroom with good amenities (when you find the hairdryer by lifting up the desk!), great to have a fridge in the room. Friendly and helpful Reception staff and friendly Breakfast staff. The hotel is an easy walk to Ponds Forge swimming pool which was the reason for our stay.
We would have liked breakfast to start a bit earlier than 8a.m. at the weekends as it meant my daughter could not have breakfast before she had to be at Ponds Forge for warm up. We were a bit disappointed with breakfast itself - mushrooms looked destroyed, limited cereal choices, sachets of sauce (not main brand), only scrambled eggs available. One of our party would have liked poached egg, another would have loved pancakes or muffins. Not really worth the money for breakfast. Restaurant and bar were closed for refurbishment which we were told about and didn't mind - maybe the breakfast will improve as well.
The newly refurbished gym was a big hit but the changing rooms and pool and steam room were dirty.

Check in was slow and seemed abit disorganised, room was newly refurbished and fresh but shower didn’t drain, woman on Saturday morning gave us a different room key to have a shower in as by the time the shower was up to temp the shower tray was brimming. And 9:30am on Saturday a drilling noise could be heard in the corridors and rooms, I know they was having renovation as was made aware be so can’t complain.

Staff were friendly, bed was comfortable, the room was quiet and breakfast was excellent. Parking was easy and location central. However there were a few issues that reduced my overall comfort and enjoyment. Firstly, there was no big, central light, just dim lamps. In this half-light, the room appeared clean but then we found litter from a previous guest in a drawer. But the worst thing was the shower, which was obviously blocked and flooded our bathroom. Staff said it was a ‘big job’ to remove the shower plug cover to clear any blockage and offered us a room change instead! Why would a hotel have difficult to remove/clean shower plugs? This made me question how thorough the daily clean must be. We declined the room change as we were leaving the next day. The pool was nice, but the steam room was grotty and in need of an update. I expect better than this for the price.
