Arrived for a 1 night stay for my birthday after the hotel was highly recommended by other family members. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. The room allocated to us had noise from the tram line that woke us at 5.30am. Service extremely slow and staff unhelpful. We were attempting to book a place in the spa as this was one of the main reasons for our visit. However phone was unanswered asked at reception how else to book to be told can only call so continued to try to eventually getting an answer the following morning and being advised nothing available. Left very disappointed as we definitely didn’t experience the wow factor expected. Hotel is beautiful however our stay was anything but.

It’s a very nice hotel but a few things take the edge off what it could be. Service is slow, expect to be left waiting for check in and breakfast at peak times for upto 30 mins. The room was mostly very nice and big, we did have a temporary air con unit with a pipe going out of the window which was too noisy for night so feels like some work is needed in places. In summary it’s a nice hotel and quite a building but in places it could do with some work

Booked a superior king room . Lay out was lovely. Room took ages to warm up. While sleeping the fan kept coming on. It was very noisy.pipes were making noise . Pillows were too hard . Shower floor felt slimy. This was my treat as I am recovering from Breast cancer. I left very tired and unrelaxed .

Beautiful hotel but we had no heating in our room because of a circuit failure so had to phone reception who provided us with a heater. TV didn’t work and were disturbed by the trams going past the window at all hours. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Stayed at the hotel after a meal at Adam Reid's. Lovely hotel, meal fantastic. Staff in main bar and reception could have been more attentive for a hotel of this caliber but otherwise a lovely stay.

Easy check in. Sat in bar for a drink, fantastic atmosphere. Room was just ok. We had an inner room, which overlooked the courtyard. Felt a bit cave-like and dark. Bed not comfortable for my taste and pillows very poor quality.

Great stay, the initial room we was given wasn’t very good. We told reception our concerns and they quickly gave us a different room that was much better. Stunning hotel in great location!

Manchester City center is a walkable city and the Midland makes it easy to cover the 4-mile radius. It is centrally located and easy to walk to everything. The property features the Edwardian Baroque style with red brick and intricate design on the outside but the age is evident on the inside in the bedroom. Perhaps The Midland prefers to retain the period, but the window frames and the bathroom seem outdated. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed our one-week stay.

Checked in and instead of upgrading me they down graded to a small bed Then when I tried to call reception to ask to be changed it took them a long while to answer. Only to be told we are very busy. I was offered a king size bed and there was only one available on the mezzanine floor Which I was told I have no choice as even though I’m a gold member they won’t give me a higher category. The noise of people partying was so loud till 2am and the tram tracks where outside the room so loud that I didn’t even get a minutes sleep
