Old world charm in this central Southampton location. Just one night here and had all we needed in a basic double room. Nice and close to town to provide a wonderful pre Xmas night out!

Room and hotel fine for overnight stay. Warning if booking small double rooms. I tells you there are some stairs. Actually 3 sets. 2 only 6/7 the last around 16. I struggled with my heavy suitcase.

Great location for seeing the sights. Close to Cruise ship terminal. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room needed some TLC, was glad we were only staying one night.

Firstly the room was about 30degrees in heat, it was absolutely boiling and there was nothing the staff could do to turn it down. We were advised to open the windows to which only 1 window would stay up and open. I have brittle asthma and this heat was unbearable for me, I was up majority of the night coughing and sweating. I went down to reception to see if they had a fan that I could use, they did but it was broken, I had to lay the top of the fan on the single bed for it to work. The banging and clanging from the window being open was ridiculous, the window was banging all night. Bed double bed was broken (the bars were broken) and overall it was just an unpleasant stay. Breakfast was okay.

I found all staff I encountered to be approacable, helpful and friendly. The room was clean and quiet and the bed comfortable. The breakfast however was not good. Offer ed from 7 to 10 am, I ate at 8.15. The bacon was so hard and dry it could not be cut or bent and tbe sausage were cheap tasting and, again very dried out and wrinkled. The rest of the buffet looked moist and okay. Right next door to a Wetherspoons, you really need to up your game. Not a cheap breakfast either. I will book with you again but eat elsewhere. Thank you.

Very noisy next door neighbours who kept me awake until at least 3am then rudely awoken by car engine running and radio blaring in the car park right by my room at 6am which didn’t stop for about 30 minutes. I didn’t use any facilities in the hotel but you get what you pay for and the hotel was old fashioned but seemed ok.

While the location is convenient, the property itself is very old - one-person lift with manual door opening, no air conditioning, lots of long narrow hallways. It is definitely one of a kind if you are looking for an antique hotel. Our room was spacious and clean though, albeit with a broken fan and a dripping faucet that has water pressure problem.

This is an very old (antique) kind of property where you will find moving luggages between floors and stairs is somewhat a challenging experience. The lift is the old type require manual door opening and accommodate only one person plus a bag. Some rooms were far reached through a long narrow hallway so they are not convenient for those who have large luggages hence we asked for a change to a more accessible room since we had two large luggages. No air conditioning but a floor fan was available (which was broken and had to be swapped with another one). Water pressure of the shower was horrible (basically dripping) and we had to skip taking a shower after hotel staff failed to fix it the first night.

The position of the property is very central to the city centre and the cruise port. The hotel is old but we had a renovated room which was very nice. Tea kettle and coffee and tea are in the room. Next door is Weatherspoons pub which is great for breakfast, although lunch and dinner get very busy.
