Gardiner House Hostel

I only spent an evening here but it was great! Everything was clean and well organized and I enjoyed my stay! Shops and pubs within walking distance and easy to navigate. Would definitely stay here again!

This was an excellent property for anyone looking for a short stay on a budget All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I did have to rent a locker for luggage as I arrived well before check in time due to planned activities on the day but for €8 there are convenient and safe lockers available. And at this time I was allowed access to the property’s WiFi and common areas to prepare. All common areas were well maintained with a spacious self serve kitchen area, with an attached indoor dining area, plus outdoor seating and access to a small laundry. The room I had chosen was as described and clean and safe with plenty of power points and a lockable cupboard for each bed and although some of the shared bathroom facilities were showing their age you could see they were regularly checked and maintained. With an 11am checkout there was also ample time in the morning to refresh and grab a light continental breakfast before departure. I would recommend and wish to thank the staff for all their hospitality and diligent work

Very good accommodation I stayed in the room with a private bathroom which was very good. Nice free breakfast and easy walk to transport links.

Great cheap nights sleep. It was confusing to find my way around and find the chapel area. 10 minute walk to Oconnell st which was nice, lots of option for.food.

I hate leaving bad reviews, especially when I think the intentions are good, but .... it seems that they have upgraded the hostel without actually testing it out. And there is so much that doesn't work. There was one toilet on the 3rd floor for about 30 people. That is abysmal for a modern hostel. And the toilet wasn't even in good condition. The top bunks have no shelf, ledge, any sort of place to put things like phone, glasses, etc, during the night. So simple yet so stupid to leave out and makes it really inconvenient. What are you supposed to do with your phone, glasses, once you get into bed?? There is one central bright light in dorm rooms, no smaller lights for if someone comes in late or gets up early. Again, so simple to add. It's like they forgot to ask backpackers what is needed in a backpacking hostel. There is no elevator to the 3rd floor. It stops at the 2nd. And the elevator is tiny anyways so you probably will end up walking most of the time. They are high ceiling floors, so going up to 3rd floor from garden level is like walking up 8 flights of stairs. On plus side, lovely garden area. But overall, such a shame - some small changes would make such a big difference. But for now, you will be far more comfortable in other hostels.

Perfectly adequate for a short stay.

Gardiner House Hostel had a mistake in our registration on their end, and we ended up having to pay an extra 75 euro because of their glitch on their end - there was no effort on their end to comp the difference even though it was their mistake. The main eating area was sticky and not super clean, and many of the hallways were rather rundown and gross. My room had been recently renovated, so it was clean and beautiful, but smelled strongly of paint fumes the entire time we were there. There was loud music playing in the hallway at all times, and at least in my room, the main overhead light stayed on all night and the light switch didn't work to turn it off. The staff was friendly and kind, but in all honesty, the hostel was kinda like they put lipstick on a pig. Not a great stay!

Amazed by the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. Didnt love the location, but close to transport.

This was great! Caveat – I think my room was upgraded, since they're doing renovations. Everything was clean and comfortable and I really liked the 'cabin' style bed, really offered privacy. The free breakfast was very basic but, also, free! And it did the job so it's difficult to complain. Only small issue was that due to the renovations there was noise in the morning, starting around 8:30 on a Saturday. Didn't bother me (when else are they going to do the work? Better than it going on at night, imo) but I know some people get upset about this sort of thing.

I'm poor at speaking English. So,I asked same things many times to staff there ,but they taught me so carefully, and even took care after that. All staff were very kind.

Great hostel. really friendly staff and really clean and presentable.

I really recommend this places easy to walk everywhere and also close to take transportation, guys at the front desk are helpful, definitely I will back there.

The hostel was clean, conveniently located and reception was very helpful.

It was a 15 minute walk from the nearest LUAS stop, which is the only mode of transportation to my workplace. Apart from that, everything else met my expectations

Needs some updating but good location

Convenient if they have a good price offering. Breakfast is pretty basic with no protein offering. Rooms, beds and linen are clean
