Excellent Ryokan that has been well maintained and cared for given its long history.
The old facility is evident and yet despite that, provided a cosy stay.
The host was extremely warm and welcoming and showed the hospitality as one would expect from a traditional Ryokan passed down from decades old.
The kaiseki meal at additional cost were delicious and well worth it.
Frankly not much around the area and as the host put it best: come, relax and enjoy what the moment has to offer without the hustle and bustle.
Fun fact: the hotel has the only elevator in the whole area.
We arrived late and were given a great welcome and show around the room and property by the owner. An absolute gentleman he is.
Onsens were great, I wish we arrived earlier to enjoy the very pleasant reception area and the fabulous massage chair (free or charge).
The reception also has a coffee bar, shop and vending machines.
Amenities are self service by the lift. (open from 6am to 11pm) although ladies were coming into to clean at 8am. Breakfast was Japanse style and very nice. Coffee is not included in the breakfast, green tea is. Room was great with a balcony sit out area. All rooms had river view which was nice. Plenty of private parking, very nice surroundings. We stayed here on arrival day to Japan, and prior to stay and visit of Koyasan. It was perfect stop point, although the drive here is NOT for the faint hearted :) specially when it is raining. We wouldn't be surprised if the roads are closed in winter or bad weather.
