location and view are unsurpassed. relaxing. must experience to truly appreciate. the continental breakfast was not very impressive. resort charge was an unpleasant surprise. staff was incredibly friendly and hard working.

The staff far and away are what made our stay a pleasant one. From the reception area, to the concierge, to the Maintenace and cleaning staff to the bar staff, etc. everyone truly brought the Aloha spirit to our overall experience. They were the best! To make this an even better overall experience some simple things would bring an even better vibe, like tiki torches around the perimeter of where the water is (similar to the hotel next door). We have stayed at both and we prefer this one, but little things like that make a big difference for some. Overall, a great bang for the buck and best in the city of Hilo, based on our personal experience.

The view doesn't get any better with the oceanfront rooms. However please note, those rooms are not the ones renovated yet, and are outdated. The ones facing the banyan trees are the ones that have been renovated, as of 02/2025.
Service is friendly and fast, the free breakfast is very tiny if you are looking for a good breakfast look elsewhere for that. The area around the hotel is nice with coconut island and the Japanese gardens.

The bathroom has no vent. And the coffee maker and ice bucket was in the bathroom next to the sink. Also the mini refrigerator was under the sink on the side.The room was spacious enough for the hotel to put these things on a small table. Overall it's a nice place. And very busy.

We loved the space of the room on the garden side of the hotel. We were given an end room with windows on the side as well as the patio. Our concern was with cleanliness. Around high touch areas like door knobs were a lot of noticeable finger prints and the window sill in the bathroom had insects. Luckily we always carry disinfectant wipes and were able to clean light switches, door knobs etc. The beds were fine. The bathtub really needs resurfacing or replacing. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The room was decent, it met our needs but it was showing its age. The floor needed to be vacuumed, so did the elevators and hallways. The staff was very nice. The continental breakfast was okay. It was fine for an overnight stay.

A very nice hotel at a reasonable price. The beds were great but it would have been nice to have a microwave. I enjoyed the free welcome drink and the staff was great. Parking is free and very convenient and the hotel is close to town. A great place to stay for a couple of nights while you tour Hilo and Volcano, which is less than an hour away.

A little dated for the price and I wish there was a spa and that the pool was heated but a good quite hotel even with high school sporting team in the hotel. Restaurant was great. Continental breakfast was a joke Better off going to the store and buying granola bars. Kinda sad that Hilo looks weary and worn out.

Property abuts beautiful Japanese garden & city park. Sunset was gorgeous. Staff friendly & professional. Would like a small light in bathroom instead of flooding the whole place in light when getting up during the night. BEST SHOWER you could want! Steak restaurant on premises is excellent but a little pricey. Nice people.

Didn't like that the door wasn't all the way to the floor so it let in the noise from the hallway.
The breakfast packages weren't environmentally friendly. Should of use bio-gradable paper plates and only use plastic containers on request.
