Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Johnstown

When I made my reservation I noted in the special assistance section that I preferred a ground floor room due to hip and knee replacement. Upon arrival, found out no ground floor so front desk lady said she could move me to 1st floor. I was happy and appreciative. I had prepaid via Expedia. Female said room found and then told additional $15. I declined the move as thought a ‘switch and bait’ tactic. Also would prefer a coffee machine in the room. Not a deal breaker. Everything else was fine.

I stayed one night on New Years Eve/Day, and appreciated the size of the room (cozy but not tight) and the power of the heating unit! The room was clean, quiet enough, and thoughtfully organized. I used the breakfast bar the next morning, enjoying sizeable bites of waffles and bagels before a run - glad to see home made cookies sneak in there!

The walls are paper thin! I heard intimate activity for a long period of time! Happy to have my ear pods! Wow!

Convenient

Unfortunately if you're on a lower floor you can hear EVERYTHING people above you are doing. If you happen to get lucky and have people up until 3AM walking around and slamming doors and drawers like me I'm sorry. I checked in at 1AM and there was no bell to ring so I stood around awhile until someone came to the front. There's no pool or hot tub and the breakfast sucks. The only hot food that have are waffles.

It was clean and quiet. Perfect for an overnight stop.

Will not be my choice of places to stay

I did the pre check in before I got there so I just got my key and she gave me the rundown info. (WiFi etc). Nice lobby with complimentary drinks, breakfast and WiFi. Very pleased with this place! Would definitely stay at a Microtel again!

The bathroom is TOO small and impossible to move around in the bed is so uncomfortable I barely got any sleep!!! Virtually impossible to connect laptops very few outlets! Iron &!ironing board and nowhere to comfortably plug in the iron?????

It is a MicroTel and so efficiency is the name of the game - I get it. However. the bed absolutely dominated the room and made walking around difficult for my wife and I. I would have preferred lamps next to the bed instead of the recessed lighting and outlets to plug items into at bedside. There was only one outlet beside the bed and it was very hard to reach. The shower was roomy and I liked that the shower head was adjustable. Having a fridge was handy for water and juice. The hotel was generally very quiet for most of my stay - there was one night when my neighbors in the adjoining room argued loudly but that was it. The TV had an HDMI input but no option to allow my laptop to share the screen could be found on the remote. Parking in the back was super convenient - there were some people digging through the dumpster next to the building one night but that was the only time things were weird. Overall the property was quiet and safe. being right on Comrie Ave was super convenient for us to go to nearby Amsterdam, Gloversville and Route 29 to go towards Saratoga.

Go there every year

It was clean, quiet and close to my business destination. Supermarket and pharmacy were nearby as well.

Easy access location

The hotel was clean, staff was nice. Cookies were a nice touch. Clean, comfortable nights rest for a great price.

Have stayed here the last seven years. Couple times a year. Nice area outback, which includes hectic tables, shade, and grassy area picnic tables.
