Was a lovely lovely stay , staff were great the room was great. It would have been nice to be able to lower the temperature less than 14° without having to call reception but it was a great stay regardless

Parking at the NCP carpark that the Hotel recommend and offers a discount is not true. It is impossible to park at the carpark due to the stupid bus lanes

Although check-in wasn't until 15.00, we arrived around 10.30 and were able to deposit our bag early, for a fee of £4, which went directly to a local children's charity, so no qualms at all.
From the moment we arrived until our departure next morning, the service was excellent, friendly as well as efficient, and didn't seem at all forced.
Our room had a quite large entrance area with wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilites, leading up to the sleeping area, which although not huge, was perfectly adequate.
The room, including the bathroom was spotless, the room was a very comfortable temperature, and we were fortunate enough to be on the quieter side of the building, so had a very quiet night.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate and the hotel is centrally located so ideal for our trips to the Christmas markets.

I like this hotel overall, but they have some things to work on. You can't see it from the road - if you don't already know it's there and where to find it, you never will. They have no drop off area for luggage - it's quite dangerous to try in the middle of the street, and parking is quite far. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are gorgeous and quiet, but there is a LOT of mold in the shower grout and caulking. It's really disgusting. And there is absolutely nowhere to hang a hand towel. The breakfast is grossly overpriced - for 14 I expect to order off a menu and be served. In fact in the town it's cheaper to do just that, but here it's average buffet. It's a great hotel, but needs some tweaking.

The fact that the main lobby/front desk are on floor 2 and not easily accessible from either entrance ("main" entrance doesn't have a place to stop with your car and the other entrance requires some stairs) was a bit flustering. The lobby space itself could use some upgrades, and all the staris to and from the rooms on the floors was frustrating to navigate with luggage. The room was spacious and clean enough, and the staff was nice, but we had some qualms about it overall.

Manager was rude. 3 pm check in. They have 60 rooms but at 12 noon they didn't have or willing to do even at 2 pm. You must have to wait upto 3 pm. I told them that i am gold member with Expedia. She said that's different company. You talk to them. I said will it be possible before 3 pm? She said i told you just come back at 3 pm only. No manner how to talk to customer.I told her i traveled 120 countries, no one is rude like you. All 60 rooms will be ready exactly at 3 pm??????

Ideal location in town centre, hotel was nice, friendly staff and room a good size. Beautiful dining room at breakfast although the supply of food was poor. Had to wait as hot buffet was empty and cold options were not replenished even though it was mid service. Good overall good value for money

Hotel location was very central and very good, many top bars and restaurants were within walking distance, hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, we were given a better room than the one we had booked and this made our stay very good indeed

Great location central but did not get bothered by noise. Only stayed one night for a concert did not use hotel amenities just needed a place to sleep. Unfortunately the bed was the most hard and uncomfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel and the pillows were so hard I woke up with ear pain from the pressure. I got zero sleep. Such a shame I had booked two rooms and the other room was exactly the same.

Access to the hotel was very difficult, a lot of stairs and very slow lifts. Great location but very loud at night - there was karaoke at the bar next door until 1am. So loud and very difficult to sleep at all

The Royal is a beautiful boutique hotel just a five minute walk from the train station. It is in the centre of Cardiff so close to everything. The staff are wonderful and friendly and the rooms are clean and provide you with all you need. Love staying here.
