The Jane was a unique experience. I never been to motel like that for lack of better words. But it served the purpose and if needed I would do it again.

I decided to stay at the Jane hotel due to its history with the Titanic and early 20th century NYC. But when I arrived the historic lobby is not accessible (being turned into a private club) and the basement checkin desk is revamped modern but still under renovation. Room was as described slept well but honestly it just felt like a low end hotel without the history.

Undergoing construction currently, bathrooms were not kept very clean. Beds were small, could not fit and uncomfortable.

The Jane is under renovation so only single rooms are available. As a solo traveler, that was fine with me. The rooms are tiny, accommodating a twin bed & not much else. The bathroom is down the hall. Everything as clean & neat. It was quiet. You can’t adjust the temperature of your room. It’s winter & the heat is on. There is a fan but even with it in the room is too warm. The neighborhood seems. Overall, this is a good hotel.

I love this hotel. I wish there were more amenities like a vending machine and washing but I’m sure they’re working on it. I love the rooms cause I feel like I’m on a ship. Brian at the desk is too cool! 😎 nice guy and a great voice

We stayed one night at The Jane Hotel on a brief stopover in NYC. I had visited the amazing bar, cafe and lobby years before and was curious about the tiny rooms. I figured even if the room was tiny we could hang out at the cozy stylish bar and we would be in one of my favorite neighborhoods. Well…I should have checked the reviews because it was a totally disappointing experience. Bar, cafe, lobby all gone! Now the entrance is on garden level into a white sterile check in area with fluorescent lighting and a snarky desk person. Everything was under construction, elevator covered in moving paper and wall pads, very depressing! The rooms were even tinier than I imagined even after looking at photos online. There is no room to even open a suitcase and squeeze by it. The bunkbed frame was rickety with a bad ladder. I could have dealt with that but the most horrific thing were the mattresses! Super thin spring mattresses with literally zero padding on top!! Literally all I could feel was metal, and they are much narrower than a standard twin mattress! They seemed like mattresses from an orphanage or insane asylum back in the 1930’s! I really couldn’t believe it. I insisted at the front desk to find a room with better mattresses and the guy was kind enough and let me check several rooms until I finally found one with thin foam mattresses that didn’t have metal springs. To top off this horrid experience there are literally 50 rooms on each floor with only 2 co ed bathroom stalls!!!!

After a long day, I could not find the parking garage. Even though it had nothing to do with this hotel, a representative stayed on the line with me and walked me through how to find it from where I was. I don’t think I’ve ever had a hotel representative go out of his or her way like this. I really appreciated it.

I wanted a bed and a bathroom. I wanted somewhere to put my bag while I wandered around New York. A friend of mine recommended this place. I would like to recommend this to you, the reader. 1. The room is SMALL. It is the size of a king size bed. And it was warm. 20s° at night, and I had to have the window wide open. Still with me? 2. The bathroom is shared. I had to wait for a shower. It was worth the wait. An overhead shower as hot as you want with soft NY water. Still with me? It is basically a hostile with a private bed. It is in a great location, only blocks away from the A and the L trains. There were plenty of eateries around. I will stay here again.

The property is currently undergoing renovation so all public spaces are closed. The shared bathroom needs to be renovated as there are only 2 showers and 2 toilets and 2 sinks to be shared by all the people in the floor. Also need to clean the bathroom more often. Everyone I met at the hotel was respectful though. The room is small but adequate just to have a place to sleep as I was out and about all day. The AC is controlled centrally. I was there 2 nights. First night it was freezing cold and there was no blanket, only a flat sheet and thin bed cover. The second night was perfect. The lady at the front desk was very friendly. When I told her I was cold the first night, she sent 2 blankets right away to my room.

Wait until the renovation is complete. The hallway carpet is covered in plastic. The entrance is through the basement level. I look forward to a fresh start at The Jane. I’m hoping that the bellman will continue to wear the red fez and coat.

Worst hotel experience ever - I never write reviews. The hotel should not be open. It is under total renovation - you have to enter through the basement and use the freight elevator to get to your room. Most of the floor is sealed off due to construction, so in the main entrance, lobby, ballroom, sitting areas, cafe, and so on. The bathroom that we were able to use is in need of repair and tiles are missing and it was very dirty. This is nothing like the Jane of old, don't stay here

Place has history and charm, and a great downtown location. Downside was that it is in the middle of a renovation.

The only reason I am marking The Jane poorly for comfort is to alert other travellers that the single beds are very short indeed. If you are close to or above 6 foot tall maybe go elsewhere. I am 6’2” or 1.9m and it was not a restful night. Otherwise I honestly liked the place. Just don’t be tall!!
