Atmosphere was excellent. Other than queue at checkout (we did arrive at start) you wouldn’t know how many people were there, breakfast a bit hectic. Staff obliging. A lovely medieval property, maybe a bit of redecoration needed, carpets etc. Excellent large bedroom with four poster bed. Meal for 14 in private room (Harrington) for Diamond wedding was very good. Would definitely recommend. Weekend of a storm but surrounding grounds looked very good

Conveniant location for a work meeting nearby. Beautiful hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Food was great. The hotel is fascinating with period features and decor at every turn. Reasonably priced.

Lovely room but lacked plug sockets near the bed for phone charging. Shower tepid and bath blocked. Only used it before leaving so reported it on checkout. Staff very attentive.

Dirty and old and run down. Rooms are in a separate building out the back reached through service exit where rubbish is left out in a courtyard.cups in room dirty. Bathroom dirty. Heating system doesn't work and clearly hasn't for some time.Carpet tired and threadbare in main hotel areas. Breakfast so expensive for what it is. Decor is tacky and not matching the grandeur of the abbey building and grounds. Cobwebs everywhere. Every wall has scuff marks and paint flaking off.

The entire room creaked—the floor, the chair, the bed. I could hear every movement from the floor above, and I imagine anyone below could hear me just as clearly. The only exception was the bathroom, where the tiled floor offered some relief from the constant worry of stepping on a noisy spot. As for the amenities, they left much to be desired. The hairdryer’s filter was clogged with dust and lint, which I had to clean out myself. The spoons were stained with tea (or coffee?). It also took nearly five minutes for reception to answer my call. On top of that, the hallway noise was disruptive, with every footstep echoing past my door. The room I booked was supposed to have a view, but I didn’t receive one. Overall, it lacked the sense of luxury I had expected, and the cleanliness could certainly be improved. Given the experience, I don’t believe I would stay here again—especially not for the price.

The place itself is stunning. Our only complaint was our room was literally shaking from the disco next door till 12.10 in the morning. Choose your room carefully and ask about when and where the entertainment is taking place. The staff were all friendly and helpful but they were a bit too informal for our liking. Be prepared to be fleeced for £8 for parking even though your could be paying £160 plus for your room for a night. A dress code for the restaurant would also improve the dining experience.

Really great and would highly recommend in every respect other than that parking isn’t free. It’s in the middle of nowhere! Of course everybody will be driving. It is very strange that it isn’t free.

A party in the hotel finished at 12 there were fireworks staff then allowed the party goers to stay outside partying until 3am. We were not informed at check in , staff only acted when I got up and complained at 2.45 am. Do not stay here unless you have checked there are no events happening.

Fantastic stay! We loved every minute of it. The hotel is quirky and maintained to a very high standard and the medieval banquet was great fun! We just found the check in and check out not very efficient as the self service machines didn’t work which meant there was a long queue at reception.

Very old charming property but too dark! Rooms were not well lit. Service was great, nice staff, but I was shocked to pay 19 pounds for a cup of tea and a scone! And that was in the bar, not the afternoon tea. Furniture in the lobby was ancient and uncomfortable. It was an interesting experience but I won't go back.
