Practical accommodation close to the station and public transport. Good value. Nice breakfast with lots of variety on the buffet. Another guest smoked on our floor -the bad smell lingered a while. Otherwise, it was an excellent stay.

I was having breathing problems at night and once i switch off the Aircon and open the windows everything is okay or i have to keep the Air purifier run all night. I stayed in a hotel near Smile hotel with similar room rent but far better rooms.

The breakfast buffet was terrible, and the closing time is 9:30am but they stopped putting out food 30 minutes before closing. If you come out late you get white rice and a cup of coffee, also they don’t offer coffee or tea in the room for guests.

I didn’t expect the place to be kinda old but it was decent for the price I paid. Also, when you go to the smoking floor to do laundry, you can tell it’s the smoking floor.

The room itself is a bit misleading, its a small rectangular shape room with no aircon so you need to open the window but not too wide since it is too windy the window spoil, so you will be in the dilema, to open or not to open.
The staff are great and friendly. The location is very near the nara train and bus station approx 5-6 minutes walk. It is also a walkable distance of around 20-30 mins to Nara park and Todaiji temple while strolling along shopping street to buy souvenir. There’s also a lot of friendly Nara citizen ambassador along the bus station readily to help you anytime.

The Smile Hotel is in a good location, very close to the JR Nara train station which has food and stores. Rooms are spacious for Japanese standards and clean. Hotel has laundry facilities for travelers. Rooms are clean.
Downsides: Air Conditioning/Heating is centrally controlled, meaning that if the heater is running, you cannot get air conditioning, you can only open the window, and vise versa.
Also, while the hotel promises a "Western Breakfast" they use the term very loosely. I was not impressed with the breakfast.
Wifi was also very disappointing and wired internet in the room did not work.

The people who worked there were accommodating - no problem with left luggage - it was very close to the jr station so especially good if you are on a rail pass for a short stay — it wasn’t luxurious but it was perfectly clean and comfortable

連泊の予約がうまく出来ず1泊ずつの2泊になってしまったがフロントの方が状況を把握していて、同じ部屋で連泊することができ荷物を部屋に置いたまま2日目出掛けることができました。
このような柔軟な対応がとても素晴らしいと思いました。

駅、バスセンターに近く、荷物を預けて観光するのに便利でした。水回りの施設などは古い感じですが掃除はいきとどいていました。
洗面所にはコンセントが、デスク周りには鏡がなく、ドライヤーを使って髪を乾かしたりセットしたりする場所に迷いました。
