For student accommodation, the place is great, and it’s value is second to none. Likewise the staff were friendly and great to deal with. However, is a 20 minute walk to the city center, and isn’t in the greatest area. Giving it 5 stars as it’s better than expected and considering the price of hotels at the time due to the billy joel concert, a clean bed and ensuite for that price is incredible. However if staying in the future when hotel prives aren’t through the roof, would stay elsewhere in cardiff

This was a disappointing accommodation. Booked a self-catering studio room, which only to find no self-catering supplies were being provided. In discussion with on site staff, was told that due to the company opening more rooms for short stay this summer they were no longer providing self-catering supplies like plates, cutlery, cups, or pots/pans. This was not stated anywhere during the booking process, and would have changed our choice of accommodation if known. One positive was the on-site staff - they were kind and managed to find us a kettle and a few cups/plates etc, but beyond the staff being pleasant that is the only good thing about this spot. Further, the unit bathroom had a drainage issue in the shower that after reporting to front desk was not resolved. There was also no available rental fans for the suffocatingly hot rooms, and no AC in the rooms just the building hallways.

The room on the third floor was unbearably hot and actually made me feel quite ill. Unpleasant smell of vinegar when you entered room. Hallways smelt musty. Do not recommend

Property itself was nice, clean and great facilities. Would have loved my uni galls to be as nice as they were. We were in the ground floor and there was a noticeable smell of drains when we arrived. Area the property is in is very dirty. Litter everywhere! And just seemed grotty.

This is student accommodation - so that needs to be taken into account. It was also cheap - which is great!! If you accept that it's a student hall - albeit new and tidy/ clean and basic, then it's great. I was down to watch the rugby and it was perfect for that. The area isn't terrible, but it is a student area, so a bit noisy on a Saturday night at 2:30am. Big downside is no parking on site. Having said that, you can park within a few minutes walk. And it's really convenient for the city centre, and an easy walk. Overall - great value for money, good towels, clean, free pool and a vending machine on site. My room had a fridge, micro/convection oven/ sink etc - as it's self catering student accommodation. Would I go again - yes.

This place is great for an over nighter. Stayed here to watch the rugby. The location is rundown and not very inviting but once you are in, it's clean and does the job.

The stay at Arofan House was very good. I can fault the place. The only discomforts were that the pillows were too soft/flat and that the sink in the bathroom was clogged ( water leaked away slowly). This was reported but didn't get fixed before we left as we left the day after it was reported. Easy to commute to toen centre and other places

I stayed in this property for two weeks as a interim stay while moving apartments. The room itself was clean, with ample storage area, work desk and the people working were friendly and responsive. Few things to mention were that the nights were really noisy from few of the neighbours and the loud banging of doors when people walk in and out of their rooms. I would not blame it on the guests but on the design of the doors closing behind. Also there was no scheduled cleaning of the room as mentioned during check in.Could not keep the windows open at night because loud noises made by the seagulls around which I think is not in the properties control. Think the property is taking all the effort for accommodate more people as hotel guests!

Well mainly 3 things 1. Mattress isn’t comfortable at all. Definitely needs change. 2. People make noises or too loud arguing in corridor around mid night. There should Be rules not to bother others 3. Staff is kind and good, place is amazing from near by bustop weatherspoon supermarket , it’s neat

The facilities were ok, however they have failed to maintain the cleanliness of the space. From used false lashes on the floor to dust everywhere to gulp of hair on the shower drainage to really thin bed sheets, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since the last guest. When I ask for another room, they gave me a room that was also dirty. There was also a party next room on my first night, so I could not sleep Cus of the noise. Quite disappointing stay overall, would not recommend. I was too disgusted to add more photos

Filthy room: the microwave was dirty (dried on food on the plate and surrounds), cups dirty (one had hairs inside), bedding was ripped and extremely thin and there were hairs everywhere (on the floor, kitchen worktops and in the bathrooms). The kitchen extractor fan was dusty and covered in cooking stains and also had hairs on it. The bed was springy and extremely uncomfortable. I slept less than 2 hours overall as I kept getting woken up by springs digging into my back. I booked a studio with the main reason being not needing to spend extra money on eating out. However the kitchen isn't usable. All you get are 2 dirty mugs, 2 glasses, 2 teaspoons, 2 bowls and 2 saucers. No cutlery, plates, other crockery or saucepans. There is a 2-ring hob, but with no saucepans, you can't use it. There is no oven as advertised, it is instead built into the microwave. This took 50 minutes to cook some thin oven fries to a barely cooked state, after which I gave up and ate out. The microwave also has a grill, but was missing the grill rack, so that was also pointless. An ironing board was provided, but no iron, rendering it useless. The area immediately around the property had people hanging around on the street and the high street had large groups of people who I felt were intimidating when walking alone. I would not recommend the area for a solo traveller.
