We've stayed in a few Ryokan now and this is just lovely. Attention to detail is great, fresh towels and yukata every day. We chose without meals but it is a bit hard to find breakfast places, whilst there are plenty of great lunch and dinner options. Otherwise 7/11 not far away. Baths are relaxing and enjoyable!

I stayed recently while walking on the Nakasendo. The room was large and spacious with a nice view. The baths are hot and relaxing. The food was excellent local produce and the service was good. The ryokan is not new but it has a comfortable charm and ambience that is not available in a sleek new finish. The morning shrine tour was well worth doing despite the -2⁰C temperature. Would certainly like to stay again for a longer time if the opportunity arose to revisit Lake Suwa.

I rented a car and if you do too, I would recommend this place. There's plentiful parking which was great and you may miss the turn since the alley is quite small to turn into. Other than that, this is an affordable ryokan with two onsens! You have the indoor and the outdoor. The outdoor onsen was really nice. Not sure if this is applicable to all rooms, but please expect your shower/bath area to be in the indoor shared onsen.

The most comfortable place I stayed at during my 2 week trip to Japan. Rotenburo outdoor onsen is beautiful and refreshing. Quiet place, close to local shops and restaurants by foot.

Very nice traditional hotel with an onsen. The best thing about this place is a very helpful staff and great breakfasts. We were amazed by the hospitality and helpfulness of the whole crew, they really made our stay unforgettable!
