Best Western Plus Lower South End

elevator was broken and they put us on the top floor. there was no handsoap in the room. the cantina next door kept us up all night with loud music.

We checked in and were informed the elevator was down. The lady had us on the 3rd floor and did offer the 2nd, but that wouldn’t make much of a difference. We had to go down the hall and out the door to the stairs outside of the building with people smoking. The bathroom floor was dirty with public hairs and spills, the toilet seat was on crooked, and the sink had hairs in it. We were there long enough to check in, get ready for a cheer competition and leave. By the time we got back it was dark and we had to have a friend go with my daughter and myself because it was dark out and there were people wandering around outside the hotel as well as around the stairwell we had to use to get to our room. It felt very unsafe for two females to be alone. We went back long enough to gather our items and check out. We might’ve occupied the room for a total of 2 hours. Would not stay again. When we checked out the guy just said we were good to go, didn’t ask questions, so I didn’t bother explaining why we were leaving. Hoping for a refund but the hotel of course has yet to respond. They also charge a $100 deposit you get back 3-5 days after check out which is not advertised upon booking

The same seemed unfriendly in general. The elevator wasnt working. Alot of homeless people around made my kids uneasy

We liked our room; it was clean and had enough space with updated decor. The list of things we didn’t like is much longer…. 1. The elevator was broken ….. we were only on the second floor so you would think that’s not a big deal….WRONG! The only way to get there was to go to the end of the hall, go outside, use those stairs, and come in thru a door that says “this door is always locked”. The problem…. The area has a lot of transient ppl walking around and thru the property and now they have access. The area where the stairs were was very secluded and creepy. 2. The breakfast was kinda typical, nothing fancy, but they started cleaning up and putting stuff away 25 mins before the end. Some ppl came and the only left was coffee. 3. The parking lot and property seemed unsafe. There was a huge hole in the parking lot that could easily damage someone’s car if they didn’t swerve around it. There were a few bright lights but not in the far corner where the hole was. 4. Last, it just doesn’t seem right when my 11 year old daughter asks, “ what’s that disgusting smell?” Every hallway smelled like marijuana. I don’t care what ppl do but it was really bad. Thank god it didn’t linger into the room. Anyway, I will not ever stay here again.

This property was a Gem. Very clean very nice and comfortable. The only downside was the area felt unsafe. It is a city so I can’t fault them for where they are. If you are comfortable staying in this area I would define stay at this property

The staff at the desk were friendly, helpful and a joy to work with.

There was no elevator service, there was no laundry service either and that was one of the things that interested me about the hotel. The cost of the stay was the same with those mishaps. In my room you could hear everything from the continuous room through a door that accessed that room and that I kept closed and you could also hear everything from the corridor, so we couldn't sleep well because of the noises. I liked the breakfast and the staff was very kind to serve me when I needed it. But I would not take this hotel again, it was for an emergency because they canceled my flight back home and I had to stay all weekend.

It was a quick night stay to do some Christmas shopping in Charlotte. Easy location, they are remodeling so everything was new. Also we were able to easily walk to brewery’s and restaurants

Room had weird smell. Room also was located on third floor with no working elevator.

Did not like it smell lile pot everywhere and the things didnt work in the rooms like telephones, coffee machines, etc

Elevators did not work had to use the steps, laundry room was not operational as well. Staff lied about given us a late checkout which caused a incident with housekeeping coming early and trying to walk in on us. Also housekeeping lied and said that we cussed her out which wasn't true. Management came to the front and stated that there was evidence of the room being smoked in by housekeeping which is not true because I'm very asthmatic and can't be around smoke without have asthma attack. My bf goes outside and was going outside to smoke and air out the whole 2 days of being there and I told the manager on duty she can definitely run the cameras and see that he went outside throughout the night and day to smoke. She was kond of rude and I was upset for not only being accused of cussing housekeeping out, not getting the late checkout and being accused of smoking in the room which I offered to walk back up there with the manager to see where thry smelled smoke at in the room.

This Best Western should be the posterboy for false advertising.

The area/parking lot is sketchy. Did not feel safe. Entry doors (not the main entrance) were not room key enforced, so, anyone can walk inside! Lot of marijuana smells around!
