ibis budget Newcastle

We ordered breakfast. Disappointed that only Granola was available and two oranges left. The fruit should have been replenished and the cereal options as people ate. Only white bread available. Why not wholemeal? I asked for an extra pillow at 2.15pm. Told yes. Not there when we got back at 7.45pm. Then no pillows available.

Check in was good. Good location. Wasn't impressed with having to pay for parking. The room was terrible. Bugs everywhere, toiler, bathroom area was disgusting. The area absolutely stunk. I had to complain to reception. The highway next ot the motel was extremely noisy. My son is in the RAAF, Williamtown and I frequent the Newcastle area. The Ibis Budget, Wallsend was without a doubt the worst place I have stayed in. If there is some incentive for me to return, I'd like Ibis or Hotels.com to consider this. May a free night's accommodation adnd parking. If not, I will not stay there ever again.

Nice comfy bed!! $5 parking was unexpected

Room was expected being an old Formule 1, very small with tiny bathroom, but it did the job for a few hours stopover on the way to Sydney. Location is very close off the M1, so it is very convenient. Getting a little older now, but clean and tidy.

Nice basic room not far from the freeway. Good for a night. Try get a room on parking lot side as the road side can be a little noisy. Check in took a little long as the staff member was new and needed more training. The stay is what you would expect for a budget hotel.

No no no! You won’t sleep here. Everything was poor. It’s as if you’re sleeping outside next to a busy street, there is no sound proofing at all and windows aren’t sealed. There was also a constant drip in the bathroom throughout the night but the drip was inside the toilet system. Hallway was also loud. Unfriendly reception. Hotel charges you extra for everything, like parking and even checking out 30 minutes later at 10:30! The breakfast was awful! Not worth it.

I have stayed at a number of Ibis Budgets not only here but overseas as well. I must say that this particular property has to be the worst one concerning condition. It really is overdue to be renovated. There was no soap in my room so I asked the front desk for some. Unfortunately they had run out of soap with the staff member stating that they had been having problems receiving deliveries lately. That meant I had to go out and buy my own soap. Not a huge deal but not something I had expected to do. Also the TV remote did not work. Whether the batteries were flat, it was just broken or because it was a generic brand remote or not the same brand as the TV I don't know. I would like to mention one other point and that concerns the emergency exits. In my 2 night stay at the property the 2 closest exit doors to my room were constantly being held open by large rocks etc. I kept moving whatever was holding them open and closing the doors as it poses a security risk to the guests and their possessions. This needs to be rectified. The best part of my stay was the staff. All the staff that I had interactions with were friendly and helpful. One reason I stay at Ibis Budget properties is that I know what to expect each and every time. Unfortunately this one was a let down. Would I stay here again? Most likely but, only after it has been refitted and freshened up. Until that happens it is a big NO.

The staff were friendly but the room was in need of work The blind was broken The keycard entry cover was broken And the roof had black on it But the bed was comfortable and the shower was great

I know it is a budget motel but the the room was incredibly basic not even a chair no toilet roll holder just very average won’t be back

Unfortunately you get what you pay for. .

The room I was given was not cleaned for my entire stay There was dust and dirt all over the floor Multiple requests to the staff to have the room cleaned and not done Would definitely not recommend

Friendly and helpful desk staff member. Noisy opening and closing front door. Sewage type odour in the bathroom.

Easy to drop in and stay due to the location.

Booking into the property at 4pm and the room was still being cleaned. Room 305 the “keys” that were delivered did not work on the door, had to go down and fix. Bedroom 1 had no bulb in bedside table, one small watt roof light not sufficient lighting. Aircon had a remote that didn’t work. Three air cons on balcony 1 for our room not sure what rooms they were working but we’re going strongly and some were noisy and we’re going all night. I had booked to rooms 305 and 410. 410 the oven door would not close and had to have a foot pushing it to warm up dinner. Dishwasher top draw broken. We applied a fix. Once working it blew the fuse so we turned it off. These items were major OH&S issues. Area around the car park was very messy. We would choose not to stay in future.

Great for a short stay.
