Mercure Newcastle

Initially I read the reviews after booking and was regretting my choice, however once I arrived I was pleasantly surprised, This is a lovely place to stay and the food is good too. The thing that makes this place is the staff, every single staff member I spoke to was helpful and friendly even going above what one would reasonably expect. Great place to stay, and I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews first.

Clean, comfortable, very easy check in and out

Enjoyable stay. Only neg comment is the pool ladder steps, not easy to negotiate for an older adult especially if you've got large feet, the steps are tiny. Otherwise recommend this place if you want to fe in the city without a huge price.

Property needs to fix broken things and cover up drywall repairs. Update !!! Rusty look things in bathroom. Bigger trash containers.

An expensive stay for a very ordinary and dated room

Good motel for the price, safe are great and friendly. Only downside is the hoons driving around which is not the motels fault

My experience at Mercure Newcastle was disappointing. The hotel felt outdated, with poor soundproofing – I could clearly hear conversations and TV noise from the next room. The room itself had an unpleasant odor, making the stay uncomfortable. Additionally, the air conditioning unit was old and emitted loud noises, so we chose not to use it. The only positives were its convenient location, easy parking, and proximity to central attractions. However, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless improvements are made.

Property is old. Needs updating especially bathrooms.

Room was comfortable. Good range of tea and coffee available with mugs rather than small cups. Also parking was available.

Extremely rude receptionist who had a bad attitude right from the start. I mentioned I had called the day before to ask about an early check in. The lady I had spoken to said if the room was ready we’d be able to check in, but couldn’t guarantee it. No mention of a charge. Upon check in, receptionist said room was ready but it’d be $60 to check in early. We arrived at 12.30 so 1.5 hours early. I said the lady on the phone never mentioned a charge. Receptionist said “of course there’s a charge, we had to get the room ready for you early!” She then proceeded to tell me that all hotels in the world charge for early and late check ins. I said no they don’t. She said yes they do and kept arguing with me!! She was just unbelievably rude and it was totally unnecessary. The room had some gross thing stuck to the bedside table and there was someone else’s old food in the fridge. Won’t be staying there again!!

Had to self check in, not enough towels for number of people, the bathroom needs a full renovation, and can not pay cash or order meals without scaning QR code.

ビジネス用に滞在なら問題なし。ホテルの部屋に仕事できる机が無いのが少し残念。食事できるようなテーブルはあったのですが。 食事は、近くで見つかるのがマクドナルドとケンタッキーフライドチキン、後スーパーがあります。15分ほどあるけばブルワリーがあって、そこは楽しかったです。

Shower in the bath extremely unsafe. Lack of access to PowerPoints. Noisey.

The beds were amazing The bathroom was very old outdated and tried to cover it up with tile paint. Toilet did not flush well. Needs renovation

Bed was comfy. Room could do with updating Bathroom needed more cleaning

Great customer service

The location is good to the shops but a bit far from the beach.

Parking is terrible, I don't want to park on the street overnight it doesn't feel safe. The bathrooms are outdated, the carpet isn't great. The pool closes too early at night and there's no gym. Not what I'd expect from a Mercure more like an Ibis.
