It was quite difficult to find

The staff and catering ranked well. But there were a few downsides: (a) we booked this hotel in particular to use the pool and sauna, but both were shut for the duration of our visit (b) the location was far out of town, by a garden centre. Not ideal for a day's sightseeing in town. (c) whilst the evening meals were high quality - our compliments to the chef - the breakfast was rather ordinary.

Very tired decoration, clean and comfy bed shower/bath very grubby, taps moved when turning the on and off. Chipped cups lots of traffic noise had to use earplugs.

Nice hotel, great staff, restaurant food ok, the fish and chips are recommended. The shower in our room lacked volume and pressure and the water barely reached any more than warm.

Unfortunately not a great experience, staff all very friendly but the hotel is looking very tired and the facilities in room all need updating/refreshing. The shower either ran too hot to use or on the final day failed to produce any warm water at all due to a fault. Room not cleaned overnight, food left in bin, beds not made, towels not swapped etc

Night 16/9 - left most of my lasagne in the restaurant as it was so dry it was inedible. Staff very apologetic, not charged for meal. Night 16/9 - 23.00 roadworks immediately outside made it impossible to sleep, asked for a different room. Night porter eventually found us another room at 01.00. Night 16/9 - 04.00, 06.00, 07.00 & 08.00 faulty fire alarm went off several times. Maybe got a total of 4 hours sleep. Day 17/9 - Buffet breakfast very good, staff friendly and helpful. Reception staff very helpful in dealing with our complaints of the previous night. Was given free breakfasts for the duration of the stay. Staff great. Day 17/9 - Noticed numerous stains (the type that seem to be almost like tar) on the pink carpet, several areas around bath with bad black mould, badly cracked handle on bath with ingrained dirt, several rusty spots on the oil-filled towel rail which was also leaking oil, build-up of dirt at the back of the sink where the silicone hadn't been kept clean. Night 17/9 - Had a drink in the bar then left the hotel for something to eat. Bar staff friendly. No other problems that night. Day 18/9 - Great breakfast again, staff very good. Night 18/9 - Had a drink in the bar then went to Hickory's Smokehouse next door (nothing to do with the hotel) for a truly awful meal that had fat and gristle with all of their meat. Cleaning staff had not left any toilet paper so we used the facial tissues. Day 19/9 - Good breakfast, reception friendly checking out.

This hotel has lovely staff, a nice pool that made it - but is very tired and tatty round the edges. The age and stage of the property makes it hard to clean I imagine, particularly the very old changing rooms for the swimming pool.

Nice hotel and Very helpful staff a positive experience apart from the fire alarm going off twice in the night.

Our stay here was very good. Loads of parking. Receptionist was very nice. Room was big and bathroom was lovely and clean. Ths only two things i was disappointed with was no breakfast and the bed was too soft. Everytime my wife moved i felt it and I had a painful lower back the next morning.

It is ok. Not sure state of property or service it matches the prices.

It was conveniently located for what we wanted which was a bed and food for the night. Nothing to really set it apart from other hotels in the area. Didn’t consider it value for money, but was paying with Expedia points so I’m glad it wasn’t hard cash.

Great for the price. I could nit pick and pull it apart but if you are paying this cheap / reasonable price its a damm fine hotel. Plenty of parking, spacious room. comfy bed big bathroom. Gym, Pool, sauna , steam room and foot bath. Breakfast selection reasonable. I have no problems with it at all. If you want to be fussy pay extra and go to another hotel. Gym, couldn't really work out the size of weights to lift, bathroom tiles could be a bit cleaner. The general decor is old but its an old hotel. Hickorys foodplace in the car park, macdonalds only 1 min away.

I was not informed that the pool and jacuzzi were out of order before I arrived, the aircon did not work, I used the two milks that were there on my first day, they were not replaced so I could not make a coffee the following morning

Friendly staff, very clean room, treated ourselves to room service which was fantastic and a reasonable price, very impressed and will definitely be back

A really nice hotel and spa with a pool. Clean, quiet, well located, with friendly, helpful staff and great facilities. Thoroughly recommended.

First thing to say is that ALL the staff are amazing, customer service is fantastic. However the low score is based on the overall quality of the hotel. It’s very tired, though things like bedding and towels were clean the room felt a bit grubby with a dirty tissue behind the cabinet and a piece of used chewing gum on the carpet. The fridge in the room didn’t really work and The hot tub was not working. The breakfast is very average. We wouldn’t choose to stay again.

The hotel was easy to find, clean, great staff. Restaurant food breakfast good and varied. Some of the evening menu were rather expensive for the quantity you received
