Wonderful 2 bedroom property. We enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor patio with water view and listening to and watching the Gahla Cockateels . Near views of wild kangaroos at dusk on the open land just off the main highway prior to American River turn-off.

We loved walking up to the birds singing and the beautiful sky. The place offers a great view. The Glossy Black Restaurant was delicious and within walking distance.

Our hosts were there for us, start to finish! Great local knowledge but unobtrusive. The accommodation is first rate and fully kitted out. Nothing in the kitchen is missing for whatever your self-catering needs. And with views of the bay throughout the day to make you get out the camera or just sit on the wraparound balcony and look.

Very friendly owner. Hard not to fall in love with KI. And the location of this place was perfect for our travels around on the island. Very spacious apartment. Very well equipped kitchen and bathroom. A clear and conscious environmental idea was oozing through the whole place - live in and with nature. Can only wholeheartedly recommend

As the name implies, the morning sun rising over the expansive lake system of American River is spectacular. The location is ideal for exploring the eastern and middle sections of Kangaroo Island. The accommodation is expansive, comfortable and has everything you will need for an extended stay.

Our property was on the first floor which was quite steep to drive into as it is located on a hill. It has great view and the place itself was overall very pleasant to stay in. It has all the amenities you need like plates/stove/cups/etc. It was very well insulated due to the owner's passion in energy efficiency (they even documented how they did it - makes great reading I assure you) so it was very comfortable despite it was rainy and cold that day/night. The overall size of the accomodation was relatively small but cosy. There are 2 bedrooms of average size and we had a nice sleep overnight. The place is a little bit hard to find given there was no phone reception on this island (unless you are with Telstra) so the instruction on how to get there by the owner needed to be read meticulously. The area is not far from the centre of the activity within the island which is Kingscote. This is handy as you don't want to be too far away to be remote (like West End of the Island) in case you need to go to General Store or Fuel. Overall a nice place to stay and would consider coming back again if we visit the island again.

Lovely well maintained property.

Unit well stocked with commodities.Some issues with verandah floor boards and non working toaster which were fixed immediately on reporting.Outside area needed some attention.Water pressure slow.I found it overpriced but very comfortable.

Property was clean, quite well equipped and quiet. Property owner was helpful and responsive to one minor issue.

2 bedroom fully kitted out apartment with a sea view. Lots of birds and off the main road so it's nice and quiet, outdoor sitting area. Pros; location, facilities, communication with the owner, wifi, eco conscious living. Cons; shared toiletries. Personally not a fan of large openable soaps and shampoos and coloured towels. Hotels use white towels that can be bleached, personal preference and I used my own toiletries. Sitting area could benefit from screens to make it more private from the street and hide the owners stuff.

house was very comfortable and had most of what we expected. views were lovely Bathroom could use some hooks and somewhere to put clothes, toiletries. The outside area was very limited. Garden could benefit from some attentio .
