The George and Dragon Inn

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The noise from the pub was horrific. Didn't realise a family room would be directly above noise until so late. Doesn't mention this in the details- wish I had read the reviews!! Wasn't clean. Room was Freezing- Gail force winds coming through the windows. Even when the noise eventually stopped could hear the people shouting out the front.

The noisiest room I have stayed in for years. Loud band playing until late Masses of road noise Outside drinkers Feet pounding on floor above vibrating the ceiling. Not restful….

Very small twin room. Would not stay more than one night.

This was the 4th time staying at the George and for the last 2 times ive a room with a very small tv. So s.all on this stay that watching the football i had difficulty seeing who was who and were the ball was. Otherwise the staff are friendly the meal i had very good. Next time unless i have a room with the bigger tv screen i wont be able to book. Neil

Very dirty and old. Dirty floors, cobwebs, bugs everywhere really unpleasant. Such a shame as the building is such a lovely old building it could be great. Even if the decor is old they could clean it properly, but they have left it to be really dirty and grimy. Also after breakfast, which was not good, coffee like water and took ages to be served. We then went to the car to see the chef outside smoking and in filthy clothes! Really put us off, made my husband feel ill. This was at 11am so he hadn’t been cooking all day to get so filthy! Would not recommend.

The room needs updating, tv not working, room needs a good clean as it’s got serval spiders 🕷️, the pub is a very nice old place, food is nice. Payed £110 for a night with breakfast, overall not bad but there are a few other places around here I would rather try.

Lovely large loft room, comfy bed, in need of a little spruce up. En-suite ok with good lighting for make up. Not sure about sign over wash basin!! Staff excellent. Lovely atmosphere. Would book again.

It's pretty much as described; a 3 star pub. It's not Claridges but it's value for money. Nice people and clean room. Generally pub food is not great and this was no exception: I had a very ordinary steak pie (none of the advertised kidneys). The peas and mash had obviously been left under the warming lamp for far too long and were pretty dried out. But, as I said, nice people and comfortable bed. I'd stay there again.

Dirty bedding, dirty mattress, dirty bathroom floor, nails sticking out the floor, room freezing cold and full of condensation

We arrived the hotel 3:45am because of an accident and road work on M1 we have waited half an hour on front of the hotel door, we constantly ring the doorbell and the hotel's phone number no one open the door. Absolutely fiasco

1* accommodation with wardrobe in bathroom ?? VERY VERY noisy LIVE band on Friday night which went on till 11.30PM so dont come here if you want a quiet weekend break in the beautiful town of Long Melford. Breakfast was decent but cereal bowls dirty not washed properly. Also stopped on the hottest day of the year so far so it was very hot & sweaty in the room. Overall all a bit disappointing.

Easy and friendly check-in. Room very large but needs a little TLC. Greek evening meal very good. Breakfast on 1st morning very good however on 2nd morning, poor. Value for money: good. Bad points, I telephoned to book stay and was informed 'hotel' staff weren't available but would ring back. They didn't. I rang next day with the same result. Not very good!

Really friendly and personable staff. Very helpful with parking and getting me checked in efficiently and easily.

- Freezing cold rooms and no warm water. - We had to pay extra for an upgrade when we arrived, even tho we had followed the instructions on the website.

We paid £149 for a family room, which had a double bed and a sofa bed in it. When we got in the room it was absolutely freezing and dirty. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable as were the pillows so we couldn’t sleep properly, as well as the room being incredibly cold. It was -4 outside and therefore heating was essential. The electric heaters were on for many hours but gave out little heat. The bathroom was absolutely freezing and smelt like a drain. The room was dirty and had not been cleaned properly with dust and cobwebs in the room. Electric cables were covered with electricians tape and the tv did not work. In the restaurant, where we had breakfast in the morning, was also absolutely freezing with staff even commenting on how cold it was. It was a huge disappointment and I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay there. I am upset that so much money was spent and we came away extremely cold and tired as we didn’t sleep. This spoilt our time spent with family, who live more than 3 hours away from us, when it should have been a time of enjoyment.

Friendly staff nice pub good good even better breakfast rooms are small but very clean and beds extra comfy!

Nice pub and drinks but the accommodation wasnt great. Bed clean, coffee, tea etc. Carpet in the bathroom was covered in stains but toilet etc was clean. Didnt get a wink of sleep though, a hot weekend so opened the windows, however the pub goers and music were very loud and shouting until midnight, so had to close the windows which then the room got too hot and couldnt win, resorted to ear plugs (tissue paper). Had to be up early the next morning which didnt happen due to this. Also charged double for the room tab which was refunded quickly the following week. Good if you just need somewhere as a base on a road trip or had enough drink to pass out somewhere. Paid £93 for one night, feel like it should habe been more like £50, however an ok breakfast is included.

Please tell stay with comfortable bed and decent facilities. Food was good and all safety measures were in place.
