Smith Place Hotel

We booked this place for our one night stay in Edinburgh. As the storm made disruptions to the trains and buses we were unable to travel to Edinburgh and the hotel was so unhelpful in this process and didn’t accommodate change of date or a refund. It’s shameful to have zero understanding of natural disasters and treat them like normal situations. Will not recommend this place at all

Central and well priced

We loved this hotel! Perfect place to stay for couple of days. Was very clean and very easy to find. Couple min walk from any kind of transport. So many cafes and nice local pubs and restaurants around. Would definitely recommend.

Near the Tram and Buses Stop. Restaurants, Shops and Supermarkets around the block. Nice bathroom and new shower. Coffee and Tea available at the room. I do recommend for a short stay.

La ubicación, teniendo en cuenta el precio, es inmejorable. A 20 minutos caminando del centro, a 20 minutos del puerto de leith. El tranvía que viene del aeropuerto te deja en la puerta. El personal también muy amable. La calefacción y el agua caliente funciona a la perfección. Súper recomendable. Como Algo no tan bueno que decir, la cama para dos personas es pequeña, y nunca nos limpiaron la habitación en 5 días.

Smith Place Hotel is no frills but was comfortable and the room was a good size. The only issue we had was that the wifi was very intermittent.

I needed a cheap but good quality hotel for a one night stay and this was perfect! small room but for somewhere i only have to sleep it was ideal. lovely modern bathroom and overall a clean and comfy room. definitely recommend.

The room was very small, smallest I’ve stayed in at a hotel. We did not sleep well due to a light flashing from the smoke alarm flashing non stop every minute. We reported this only to be told they knew it was faulty before letting the room to us and told there was nothing they could do. It is hard to understand how the staff thought this was ok, or why they did not have a maintenance team who could fix the problem in a timely way. Having a bad nights sleep is unacceptable. The room was clean enough, the shower was good. The windows where very dirty and there was scaffolding outside the window. I would not stay here again and would not recommend.

Ideally placed on the tram link from.airport but still walkable up to the port and into the city. Lots of dining options on Leith road. Room was just as needed for a 2 night stop over to explore the area.

The front desk lady was so nice! She expedited my room so I can check in early. It was a good stay, quiet, and public transport was close by.

Vi oplevede desværre at få et værelse (værelse nr. 9), som lugtede meget dårligt. Vi tror det stammer fra fugt og ekstrem dårlig udluftning på toilettet. Af erfaring lugtede det meget som skimmelsvamp. Man kunne både se på vægge og møbler at det havde skabt fugtskader. De havde prøvet at gemme lugten med parfume, som kun gjorde det mere ubehageligt. Vi endte med at sove med åbent vindue trods det kolde vejr. Der var kun et loft vindue hvilket ikke kunne åbne særlig meget. Receptionisten gjorde sit bedste for at hjælpe og hun var meget venlig. Men problemet ligger hos ejeren, som ikke gør noget ved problemet.

They didn’t mention on the website that there’s no window. The room was like prison cell. There’s no one at night to help,The wifi doesn’t work at all.going off and on.Better to stay a bit expensive but with facilities.we didn’t enjoy at all to be honest.

Friendly staff and clean area with easy access to city centre.

Location for the hotel was excellent, a quick tram ride into town or a 30min walk. There were also plenty of cafes, bars and shops nearby. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean with a very good shower. However, the tiny sink made it difficult and the general cramped nature of the room also was tricky. The main downside for us however was the uncomfortably warm temperature. We turned our radiator down to zero but still the room was stiflingly hot at all times, and the window would not stay open, so we had to wedge something there to get a breeze in. The room was also not at all private, with the window looking out immediately to the gate for guests to enter and exit. Some blinds/frosted glass/net curtains would have allowed more privacy. There were also lots of marks on floor, walls and furniture giving a very tired look. It was fine for a short stay and we didn't spend much time in the accommodation so didn't bother us too much, but the heat did prevent us from having good quality sleep. There is also no one in reception except for hours when as a guest, you are typically out exploring (12-8). A tip for other guests regarding parking - there is pay and display parking in nearby streets (free on Sundays) but you can drop bags by the hotel as the street is quite quiet, and then go to park in the free street parking around the Easter Road Football Grounds (around 15mins walk away) as long as you're comfortable leaving your car on the street (we had no issues).

Good location

This location and hotel were perfect for my short stay as a solo traveler. The bathroom was clean, the staff was the absolute best, they had delicious cookies in the room and candy at reception. The women at the reception were knowledgeable, sweet, caring and helpful. I would definitely come back here if I'm in Edinburgh. The location is walkable; you can walk to the closest tram/bus stations and have tons of shopping and dining options you could walk to and make the most out of your time in Edinburgh.

No WiFi on the first day. The room was tiny and the bed was less comfortable than a couch. The staff was nice although not always available and they sometimes chatted loudly in the hallways. The walls are thin and you can hear everyone’s footsteps. Considering the price, I would stay elsewhere.

Shower was the highlight, great pressure and heat, room was nice and clean, solid overall place to stay at a reasonable price
