Great hotel - rooms are spacious, dining is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel is located close to V&A waterfront area. Happy to recommend it and would definitely stay there again

We have stayed at the V and A waterfront before and the Commodore combines great location, great value for money, nice spacious rooms (junior suite), good food and in depth quality of staff. The hotel is a safe, level 5 minute walk from the V and A waterfront. They not only managed to get us checked in before the official time, but front desk, bell staff, cleaning staff particularly were well above average.
When we checked in the staff were a little apologetic that some guests find the themed decor dated and old fashioned. This is nonsense. If it is clean, well maintained and tasteful it is not a negative it is a positive. The Commodore hotel has character! We will be back next year.

The hotel was within walking distance of the V&A waterfront including the ferry to Robben Island. The buffet breakfast was amazing.

Easy walking distance to the bustling V&A waterfront.
Clean. Friendly staff.
Had trouble with room phone throughout the stay though, so sometimes difficult to communicate with the reception or the concierge.

It’s very old and dated.. it’s not just that it looks old and bad, things didn’t work. Door handles were broken, the shower didn’t drain etc. The aircon was from the 80s so you couldn’t use it during the night since it was like having a jet engine in the room.
The service was very very slow.
Save your money, it’s definitely not worth it!

The lobby and main floor was beautiful. The room we had was bad. The backboard were chipped and not maintained. There were stains on the carpet. The shower mat was molded. We had to ask to restock bath tissue and facial tissue.

The greeters at reception never ever smiled. They did not talk nicely or look at you in the eye like they were afraid of me sad they did not speak loudly and they were not approachable not friendly at all like I was bothering them because they were all standing together talking and I was an intrusive

The Commodore has an Old World elegance. Our room was large enough (not spacious but generous) and it was immaculate. The staff members were lovely - helpful and personable. There is a very nice door/outdoor restaurant where the food was delicious and the service excellent. Location wise - it’s about a long city block to the V & A shopping area which offers anything you need in n a safe atmosphere. We enjoyed out stay very much.

Good hotel in excellent location.There is an inflexible 2pm check-in, though I had contacted the hotel earlier to ask for an earlier check-in as we were arriving early.
We found it irritating and annoying that tour groups and many other people were given rooms, and though we asked several times, our room was not available until 2pm on the dot. Surely they could have a little effort to get a room ready so that we didn't have to wait 5 hours. As a result, I would not stay here again.

Beautiful lobby and room decor! Over all services are good except some update needed for modern world, such as property outlet for electronic charges, WiFi constantly have issue with changing password, some front office staff are not speaking proper English.
