— What You Can Expect —
Located in the bustling Chinatown Complex Food Centre, Bamboo Nasi Rendang is the culinary venture of Mr. Murset and his wife. Despite its recent establishment in August 2021, the stall has quickly gained popularity due to its unique and flavorful Bamboo Nasi Rendang Set. This distinctive dish is a labor of love for Mr. Murset who follows a traditional recipe passed down from his mother-in-law. Typically prepared only during the Malay New Year due to its labor-intensive process, he makes this delectable dish available year-round.
The Bamboo Nasi Rendang Set features rendang, a hearty meat or seafood stew, prepared with a secret blend of spices and coconut milk. The star of the set is the aromatic basmati rice and rendang, uniquely cooked in a bamboo tube lined with “daun lerek” leaves. This unconventional cooking method, which involves steaming for 2-3 hours, imparts an irresistible aroma to the rice and enriches the rendang with double the flavor.
Being among the 260 stalls in one of Singapore's largest hawker centers, Bamboo Nasi Rendang holds its own with a unique offering that sets it apart from typical fare. However, due to the time and effort required to prepare the Bamboo Nasi Rendang, only a limited number of servings are available each day. It is highly recommended to arrive early and experience this memorable dish. In case the stall is closed, the voucher can also be redeemed at other Traveloka Recommends Hawkers in the complex (refer to the list below).
