Where is the best place to stay in Adelaide?
Adelaide is compact compared to other major Australian cities, and staying in the CBD is more affordable than places like Sydney or Melbourne. So if you're coming to the city as a tourist and are looking to tick off the usual sights like the South Australian Museum, Art Gallery or South Australia, Adelaide Oval or Central Market, we recommend staying in Adelaide CBD.
- Adelaide CBD accommodation: If you're looking to stay in the centre of it all with minimal need for a car or public transport, the CBD is your best bet. Similar to Melbourne, tram Adelaide has a free transport zone in the city making getting around a breeze. Check out: Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide, Hilton Adelaide or Adelaide Paringa
- Glenelg accommodation: One of Adelaide's best-known beach suburbs, Glenelg is home to some great dining venues, beach bars and an iconic jetty that's perfect for watching sunsets. Check out: Stamford Grand Adelaide Hotel or Oaks Glenelg Plaza Pier Suites.
- Adelaide Hills accommodation: If you're looking to sample some of South Australia's best wine without venturing too far from the city, Adelaide Hills may be the place for you. It's just 45 minutes from the CBD. Check out: Mount Lofty House & Estate, The Crafters Hotel or Pavillions at Lenswood.
- Port Adelaide accommodation: Home to some fascinating industrial museums and even a dolphin sanctuary, Port Adelaide is well worthy of a stay in its own right. Check out: Quest Port Adelaide or the Largs Pier Hotel.
- Adelaide Airport accommodation: With the airport located just a few kilometres from the city, you probably don't need to book an airport hotel if you're already staying in the CBD or Glenelg as it's quite close. But if you're from further destinations near Adelaide, there are a few accommodation options near the runways. Check out: Atura Adelaide Airport, Adelaide Airport Motel or Best Western Adelaide Airport
Accommodation for Adelaide's wine regions

Cheap accommodation in Adelaide
Whether you're a backpacker looking for a dorm or a family after a home-away-from-home, there are plenty of accommodation options in Adelaide if you're on a budget.
Some cheap Adelaide hotels that Traveloka customers rate highly include Cosmo on Bank and Adelaide Riviera Hotel.
Here's a few tips on finding the most affordable stays in Adelaide:
- Look for accommodation away from North Terrace. While still easily walkable to attractions on the north side of the city, accommodation toward the centre of the CBD or closer to South Terrace tends to be cheaper.
- Check out private rooms in hostels. Some of these rooms come with their own en-suites, too, making it feel like a hotel stay for up to half the price.
- Stay at a pub: Usually coming with plenty of charm, pub stays are a great way to save money on private accommodation. Plus, you'll be able to get decent food and drink on site.
- Use Traveloka's accommodation filters. We can easily add price caps or sort options by the cheapest prices. This way, you won't have to sift through hundreds of bad choices to find your perfect stay.
