I had a wonderful stay at Grand La Walon Hotel in Bali. The location is perfect, just a short walk to Kuta Beach and close to many restaurants and shops. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with a warm smile. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Bali.

A comfortable, old hotel located in the heart of Legian. Love the swimming pool surrounded by lush frangipani trees, and the rooms facing the pool. It makes swimming and sunbathing a comfortable experience. The rooms are large with king-size beds. Each room has a balcony, perfect for lounging and overlooking the pool.

Right in the heart of Legian/Kuta area, our rooms were far enough away from the Main Street that we couldn’t hear the noise at all. A quieter hotel as not too many rooms, we loved it as a family, kids pretty much got the pool to themselves everyday. Great menu options in the hotel restaurant. Would stay here again. Main hotel is just a very short 50m stroll out the back gate, and you can eat the breakfast and use the facilities at either place.

More about hotels in Legian

Legian finds the sweet spot between Kuta’s party buzz and Seminyak’s boutique calm. Mornings roll in slow with beginner surf breaks at Legian Beach, while days slip by between massages, café stops, and constant returns to those poolside sessions. When evening hits, it's time to slip into that new outfit bought on the Jalan Legian shopping strip, for hopping between rooftop bars, cold beers, and live bands playing into the night.

Whether you’re chasing surf lessons, market finds, or a quieter corner of Bali’s coast, Legian slides into your rhythm: effortless, easy, and just a short scooter ride from the next big night out if you want it. Slow it down or turn it up — either way, you’ll find yourself staying longer than you planned.

Where to stay in Legian

  • Legian Beach: Front-row access to sandy stretches and rolling surf. Stay here if you want early swims, beginner waves, and sunset drinks with your toes still sandy.
  • Padma Area: Close to quieter beach pockets and breezy cafés. Padma is great for families and couples who want easy mornings and beach days without the bustle.
  • Jalan Legian: This is Legian’s busy heart — all markets, massage stalls, and neon-lit nights. Stay here if you want energy on tap and bargains at every turn.
  • Melasti Street: Near the markets and just a short walk to the beach, Melasti is perfect for travellers chasing lively days and quieter nights.
  • Legian–Seminyak Border: For the best of both worlds — laid-back days in Legian and stylish nights in Seminyak. Ideal if you’re mixing market runs with beachfront cocktails.

How much is Legian accommodation?

Legian’s got a bed (or a pool lounger) with your name on it — whether you're here for sunset beers or spa days that somehow turn into shopping trips. Prices crank up in July–August and December–January, when dry season crowds roll in and beach bars buzz louder.

  • Backpackers and hostels: From $20 per night. Hostels here keep it simple: cheap beds, scooter hire out the front, surf lessons on speed dial. Dorm beds can be very affordable for solo travellers — spot-on if you’re chasing waves and warung feeds without torching your travel fund.
  • Apartments: From $60 per night. Private terraces, room for surfboards, and homemade nasi goreng if you’re feeling clever. Great for families, long-haulers, or anyone allergic to tiny hotel rooms.
  • Mid-range hotels: From $70 per night. Poolside breakfasts, easy barefoot runs to the beach, and a mix of tropical villas and modern stays. Mid-range hot picks usually are close enough to stumble home from a beachfront happy hour.
  • Luxury stays: From $200 per night. Beachfront suites, swim-up cocktails, and enough spa treatments to lose track of the days. You won’t have to splash out too much for a luxe hotel room, but some private villas can run north of $700 when you’re feeling flash.

Top-rated hotels in Legian

  • Padma Resort Legian: A beachfront classic that’s nailed the Bali holiday vibe — sprawling pools, tropical gardens, a kids’ club that’s actually fun, and direct Legian Beach access. It’s a step up from standard resorts, perfect for families, couples, and anyone happy to splash a little more for beachfront ease.
  • Bali Mandira Beach Resort: Thatched roofs, oceanfront pools, and a prime sunset-view perch — Mandira feels like a little Balinese village right in the action. Mid-to-upper range, it’s spot-on for romantic breaks and families wanting a polished beach base without the full five-star price tag.
  • Solia Legian Bali: Rooftop bar, lively pool, modern rooms — Solia is made for party-hoppers and laid-back loungers. Sitting in the affordable-to-mid-range zone, it’s perfect for couples or groups who want nightlife and downtime without splurging.
  • S18 Bali Villas: Private plunge pools, outdoor lounges, and plenty of space to kick back — S18 offers villa vibes at prices friendlier than Seminyak’s headline spots. Great for couples or friends chasing a splash of luxe with a smarter spend.
  • Ini Vie Villa Legian: Hidden down a peaceful street, Ini Vie dishes up dreamy one-bedroom villas with spa tubs and private pools — often for less than you’d expect for this kind of romance-ready setup. Perfect for honeymoons and low-key luxury escapes.

Tips for finding the perfect hotel in Legian

  • Know your Legian: Stay by Legian Beach or Padma if you’re all about beach swims, surf schools, and slow mornings. Stick closer to Jalan Legian if you want shopping, nightlife, and cheap eats right at your front door.
  • Time your trip smart: July–August and Christmas–New Year bring peak crowds — book early if you’re eyeing beachfront rooms or family villas. Shoulder seasons (March–May, September–October) often mean better rates and better surf.
  • Use filters to your advantage: Traveloka’s filters make it easy: search for resorts with breakfast included, family-friendly pools, or spa access — plenty of stays sneak in perks you might miss if you don’t dig a little.
  • Walkability wins: Traffic in Legian can get sticky. Pick a hotel within walking distance to the beach or main streets if you want sunset swims or market runs without flagging a taxi.
  • Look for extra perks: Many resorts throw in sunset yoga, beach club access, or spa credits when you book direct — a nice little bonus if you're already planning long pool afternoons or full-on shopping days.
