ー Attractions Introduction ー

Kaitaku no Mura (Pioneer Village) in Hokkaido

Kaitaku no Mura (開拓の村), located in the Nopporo Forest Park (野幌森林公園), is a field museum that commemorates the centennial of the founding of Hokkaido. The museum has restored and preserved historical buildings that reflect the industry, life and culture of Hokkaido during the Meiji, Taisho and early Showa eras, and has been moved from various parts of Hokkaido. The village is divided into four areas: the city, the farm, the mountain, and the fishing village to recreate the scenes of that time. In summer, visitors can take a horse-drawn railroad tour, while in winter it is recommended to take a horse-drawn sleigh. There are often activities available to experience the culture of the pioneering period, such as traditional toy making and straw crafting. The "Winter Life Experience", which is limited to winter, is a great opportunity to learn about the harshness of winter life in the pioneering era.

Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage experience in the park. In summer (mid-April to November) you can ride a horse-drawn carriage, and in winter (mid-December to March holidays) it is a sleigh ride!
