I visited on May 2, 2020 and stayed for one night. Located along the Orito River near Hitome Hakkei in Fukayabakei. It is located along the road and was constructed by cleverly utilizing the slope of the valley. The top floor is the one facing the road and is the entrance to the inn. Opposite to this inn, there is a local hot spring with free-flowing water directly across the road, and those who want to soak in the bath can use this hot spring.
There are only four rooms in the inn, and two of them, Hikari no Ma, which has a bath and toilet inside, and Hotaru no Ma, which boasts a spacious space and modern design, are of high quality. This time, we will be staying at Hana-no-ma, which has the lowest price and has 6 rows and 1 room. It's right in front of the entrance of the inn, but there are only 4 groups, so it doesn't bother me at all.
The toilet and washroom are shared, but there are no complaints as there is a clean washroom with a washlet and two washrooms with ceramic sinks. The next morning's breakfast time was slightly staggered to avoid crowds, which made it really comfortable. If you brush your teeth in the bath at night, there will be no crowds. I only use 3 sets.
The baths are separate for men and women and are fed directly from the source. Each room has two washing areas with showers, but the showers are weak because the hot water is pumped up. It is best to use a kalan to draw hot water into a tub. If you really want to wash your body, there is a hot bath facility called ``Koyo-no-Yu'' in the lower part of the inn, so you can use it here. I wonder if the bath at the inn is warm before going to bed. You can enter until 10pm.
The great thing about this inn is the dinner and breakfast. Absolutely not to be missed. The proprietress, who is originally from Kitakyushu, serves Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes using plenty of local ingredients. Dinner is served in your room. The loach tempura had fluffy white meat and crispy coating, and I was able to drink several glasses of local sake. Since you can take a bath from 8am, breakfast is set at 9am. Eat in 30 minute increments at the dining area next to the counter. Very satisfied.
Cell phones and TV are perfect, but you won't have time to watch those things at an inn. During the day, you can hear the sounds of birds and insects and the rustle of fresh greenery. At night, a chorus of frogs sings in the rice fields that have just begun to fill with water. Fireflies fly around in late May.
If you want to detox your smartphone while being surrounded by nature, this is the place for you. And have a light lunch lol
