- Attraction description -

Shimen Mountain Shimen Mountain is the easiest to climb among the Hehuan peaks in Taiwan. It is 3,237 meters above sea level. There are currently paved planks and stone steps. You can climb to the top in about 30 minutes by following the trail from the trailhead. The trail runs roughly parallel to the road, and after reaching the top, turn back the same way.
The entrance to Xiao Qilai Trail is located next to the road in front of the Hehuan Mountain Visitor Service Center. It follows the slope of Hehuan East Peak and goes down gently. It starts with a road as wide as an industrial road. Along the way, you can overlook the Qilai Mountain Range, Saw Mountain, Sheephead Mountain and the upper reaches of Liwu River valley. After passing the ski resort, the road gradually narrows and then turns into a narrow hiking trail. You immediately enter the 2-3 meter high Yushan arrow bamboo forest and the tall Taiwanese fir forest that covers the sky. After entering the fir forest, you sometimes go uphill and sometimes downhill, climb over several hills, pass through several fir forests, and finally arrive at a vast Yushan Arrow Bamboo Field. The hillsides are undulating like waves. This is "Xiaoqi". Lai".
After passing Cuifeng and Yuanfeng on the way to Hehuan Mountain in Kunyang, you will arrive at Kunyang, formerly known as South Hehuan Mountain. Kunyang has an altitude of 3,085 meters. Kunyang has the boundary monument of Taroko National Park. From here, you can overlook the main peak and east peak of Qilai Mountain and Hehuan Mountain. Kunyang, which has no light pollution, is the best place for stargazing at night.
Dark Sky Park Speaking of stargazing in Nantou, "Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park" must be a popular place that everyone is familiar with. This is the first starry sky venue in Taiwan and the third in Asia certified by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) in 2019! From June to November, in the Wuling area of Hehuan Mountain with an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, you can enjoy the summer Milky Way with guaranteed quality and no light pollution. At the same time, you also have the opportunity to enjoy the photo of alpine rhododendrons and the brilliant starry sky.
