Bank Mandiri and Traveloka Launch Traveloka Mandiri Card, Targeting Indonesian Millennials

14 February 2020 – Bank Mandiri collaborates with Traveloka to strengthen its business in the tourism sector. Through this collaboration, travellers will be able to obtain various benefits that can be utilized to explore local and international tourism destinations. The co-branding partnership was inaugurated by Hery Gunardi, Director of Consumer and Retail Transactions, Bank Mandiri, and Henry Hendrawan, President, Traveloka Group Operations, in Bali.

According to Hery Gunardi, tourism is one of the fundamental sectors that could boost Indonesia’s economic growth in a sustainable manner. “This sector will continue to grow and we believe that our collaboration with Traveloka can strengthen and enhance our market share in this developing sector,” said Hery.

By the end of 2019, the total of Bank Mandiri credit card holders has reached 2 million with the financial transaction value of IDR 43 trillion, increased by 16% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the estimated transactions related to the travel necessities reached 17% of the total financial transaction value.

"Our collaboration with Traveloka is aligned with Bank Mandiri's commitment to provide the best customer experience as well as to support the tourism and creative economy sectors in Indonesia, especially to encourage consumers to further explore the country, notably the 10 New Balis," stated Hery.

He also added that through this co-brand partnership, Bank Mandiri expects to see an increment of 20% in traveler financing composition, in order to boost the growth of Mandiri's credit card business approximately at 10% by the end of 2020.

Meanwhile, Henry Hendrawan, President, Traveloka Group Operations, said that the partnership between Traveloka and Bank Mandiri allows Traveloka to provide added value to Traveloka Mandiri Card users, with the main objective to ease them in fulfilling their travel and lifestyle needs.

“With Traveloka Mandiri Card, users will not only be able to earn more Traveloka Points, but also enjoy exclusive discounts as well as redeem their points with Traveloka’s various products. By offering those benefits, we can say that Traveloka Mandiri Card is a card designed specifically for modern Indonesian millennials,” said Henry Hendrawan.

Henry also stated that Traveloka is proud to form a partnership with Bank Mandiri as one of the largest financial institutions in Indonesia, enabling users to further explore Indonesia’s destinations by utilizing Traveloka Points. "We hope this collaboration can also attract Indonesian millennials to fully reap the benefits of banking products and services," added Henry.

Traveloka Mandiri Card offers numerous benefits for users, including more Traveloka points for any kind of transactions spent anywhere, both for Traveloka products and non-Traveloka products (across online and offline merchants); double Traveloka Points whenever they buy flights and hotels using the Traveloka platform; flexible redemption; free travel insurance and purchase protection; as well as other benefits with more rewarding experiences. Traveloka Mandiri Card will be available for Indonesian consumers in the next few months with the card application via Traveloka apps.
