De Vere Tortworth Court

I can only award this hotel 3 stars, sorry. The surroundings are fabulous. It’s beautiful as you drive up to Tortworth Court and when you enter, the decor is lovely. Unfortunately, the receptionist that greeted me couldn’t even crack a smile, but I thought maybe she’s had a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, fast forward to when I get to my room. It’s freezing. Obviously the housekeeping in this “4 star” establishment didn’t think to turn the radiators on ready for when guests arrive…when it’s barely 5 degrees outside. I thought I’d ring down to reception to ask for a heater. No answer. Apparently they don’t like to answer the phone. They like guests to use a chat bot. So 3/4’s of an hour later, I get a heater delivered, by which time this has allowed me to check out the room (232). All I can say is, I’ve stayed in better premier inn rooms. There were no 4 star touches. It was drab. I was staying there with my disabled son and he is easily pleased. So, unfortunately, I had to stay put, otherwise I would have braved the long walk to reception to see the miserable receptionist and got the room changed because, to me, it was not good enough. I can add photos to this review, if it will let me, but otherwise you’ll just have to imagine all the lack of attention to detail because I ran out of space to explain. On a positive note, the staff in the Atrium were lovely. Breakfast was nice, but some rude staff who couldn’t be bothered to speak ruined it.

Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Only negative point was that the pool closed relatively early at 8pm

Fab looking building nice restaurant and gym but tv in the room to small and remote didn’t work. Bathroom dated and noisy

Poor services at Reception

First time at this hotel but it will now be my go to when in the area for business.

Short on staff, slow restaurant service, breakfast- very hot plate, warm food, everything self service, hence queues.

Very nice getaway Hotel. Staff were great and helpful. The food wasn’t amazing but was good enough. I would have preferred if the hotel offered more options as it is very remote. We had a nice relaxing time in the Spa.

Lovely hotel and extremely friendly staff. Only negative was spa. Steam room dirty, and could do with a deep clean, and generally the whole changing area, pool area was dirty and tired.

The property Tortworth Court is beautiful and has a lot of history.

The location, the manor house and the surrounding area are absolutely stunning. That’s exactly what you would want in a country escape in the Cotswolds. Unfortunately there were a couple of negatives. Firstly, cleanliness. On arrival the rooms were not well cleaned, with stains on the bed sheet and dirt on the bathroom floor. The rooms were also incredibly dusty, causing my mum to have a bad allergic reaction and breathing issues. Secondly, housekeeping. The bed sheets weren’t changed in 3 days, nor were the towels and mugs. We also didn’t like the attitude of the staff at the reception - they were all unnecessarily aggressive towards all of the guests. Other than these few points, we loved our stay at the Tortworth. Breakfast was great, the bar staff were super friendly and the hotel itself is beautiful.

I was not happy with the sauna set up. To have a cold shower one had to return to the changing room. Lovely building, staff were very nice. would prefer to stay elsewhere.

Rooms need an update, bathroom had lots of mould and bath was always blocked, rooms needed a really good clean of carpets and curtains lots of dust. Decor can do with modernisation, with the amount hotel charge it needs an update and refurb

Always a treat to stay at Tortworth Court so we thought we’d treat ourselves before Christmas. We stayed on Sunday 22nd December snd had lunch with Dsnta even though we have no kids. The food was excellent especially as there was such large crowds. Then the Chase Fireworks. We worried the hotel would be trashed by do many people walking in the mud then coming inside but the hotel was impeccable the falling day. Amazing

I booked to attend a presentation & dinner hosted by Fisher Investments. Booking by phone was easy & room rate competitive. Good things; Reception friendly & efficient. Parking nearby to my room. Room tidy, reasonably well equipped. Reception responded promptly to my request for better quality coffee. Medium things; Room a longish walk from central facilities. Route convoluted with poor signage. Shower was over the bathtub, a personal dislike. Poor things; My room nearby area being renovated & segregation from “dirty building site” poor. View from my window was a bulk rubbish skip; Very poor!

Beautiful hotel lovely rooms and fantastic service

The window in the room rotten needs replacement. The sprinkler needs cleaning. Overall clean.
